0.10.0 Update for PUBG Mobile With Snowy Map

We have managed to get our hands on the changelog for the latest PUBG Mobile update, and like it is the case with every other PUBG rollout, this one also comes with new additions. As per the information, the update will be available for download at 0:00 UTC on December 20, 2018, and players will be able to do matchmaking 24 hours later. There is also the new snow weather mode. A new Vikendi exclusive vehicle is going to be the newly added Snowmobile. Vikendi’s Spawn Island will also come with a snowball fight. There is also an added layout for players with large hands

Additionally, the new update of PUBG Mobile brings a display for Crew Challenge winners on Erangel’s Spawn Island. On the Spawn Island, the season one’s winning team will appear with their respective server and modes. Tencent has also informed that season 2 registrations will start at 0:00 UTC on December 18, 2018. Also, now the best results of crew challenges will now be displayed on the respective crew pages, which will also be shareable with other users.

Speaking of theme specific changes in the gameplay, the game now comes with a snow theme on the main menu. Players can collect bells from all classic mode matches and exchange them for rewards in the event centre. Now the themes of each significant update will be emphasised in the shop front.

Matchmaking, Reward and Other New Changes

There are also some matchmaking changes by Tencent as part of this new PUBG update. The first of the many is cross-server matchmaking, after enabling which, players will have a chance to be matched with players on other servers, but belonging to the same tier. Players who repeatedly exit matches right after starting will now be banned from entering again for some time. Also, players will now be able to report suspicious behaviour while spectating after dying.

Some new additions and changes as part of rewards include the ability to collect all daily mission awards at once. There is also a newly added firearms Finish Upgrade System, where players will be able to use materials available at the Lab to upgrade specific weapon finishes. These upgrades would get them additional kill effects, unique kill broadcasts, and appearances of death crate. A newly added lucky treasure will give players a chance to get an upgradable weapon finish, the Glacier – M416 while they go on finishing daily missions. There are also more season spending awards this time, which the players can spend to get excellent rewards and some attractive discounts on firearm finishes

Additional improvements as part of this new PUBG Mobile 0.10.0 update include added Arabic support, eliminated the need to select a second language for matchmaking and chat, less memory storage for chat system and storing messages and new commands for the quick chat function.

An old RBI rule will come into force after January 1st, 2019 and you should be prepared. A  very big change is about to hit the Indian banking sector, as a particular type of cheques faces permanent ban after January 1st, 2019. But no need to panic – We will tell you exactly what you should do now.

Indian Rupee is now slowly but gradually emerging as a strong alternative to the Dollar. The Indian Rupees has been under pressure since some time now, as the value of the dollar is increasing, so are import costs and cost of raw petroleum. From the low of Rs 63.27 in July, USD to INR conversion touched Rs 74.59 in October, and entire India was worried.

Non-CTS Cheques Will Be Banned

December 31st is the last day of using Non-CTS cheques for account holders of all banks including SBI (State Bank of India), HDFC, Punjab National Bank, ICICI, Bank of Baroda and others. Non-CTS cheques have been banned by RBI starting January 1, while these cheques will be invalid for customers of SBI from December 12.

RBI had issued a notice about three months ago, stating that Non-CTS cheques will be regarded as invalid starting January 1. Following this, HDFC had sent out a circular to notice its customers regarding discontinuation of separate sessions for clearance of non-CTS cheques. Similarly, the Punjab National Bank informed their customers to replace their non-CTS compliant cheques.

What is CTS?

CTS is the abbreviation of Cheque Truncated System, which in simple terms means stopping the physical transport of cheques midway. Instead, an electronic image is generated for transmission of the amount, thus truncating the journey of the cheque by the Clearing House.

Why are Non-CTS cheques banned?

RBI’s procedural guidelines stated that cheque clearing systems involved physical movement of the cheque from one bank to another thus elongating the overall process of encashing the cheques at each stage of the clearing cycle. Also, as per a restrictive clause in the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, the cheques were required to be presented at the drawee branch for clearing.

The RBI says, “With suitable amendments to The Negotiable Instruments (NI) Act, 1881, The Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000 and The Bankers’ Book Evidence (BBE) Act, 1891, the legal framework was put in place for the introduction of cheque truncation and e-cheques in India.”

What steps are to be taken now?

SBI customers should encash any Non-CTS cheques before December 12, customers of other banks can encash before December 31.
Every account holder must deposit their non-CTS cheques and cheque books in their respective branch and get new cheque leaves or books as per the new CTS 2010 standard. Remember, the new cheque books are free of cost.
In the years to come, keeping in mind the cost overheads, banks will probably ban the usage of cheques altogether. It looks like banks have taken a progressive step forward with the goal of digital, cashless India in mind.

All Cheques Will Be Banned In India?

Last year around the same time, we had reported a possibility: Cheques can be altogether banned in India, under Digital India push.
However, cheques are still pretty much active in India, and an important financial tool as well.

The value of the dollar has now come down, but still, it is hovering around the Rs 70-Rs72 mark, which is indeed alarming. So, what is the solution then?

Omitting dollar in business transactions, and relying on INR does seem to be a feasible solution. And two very important updates have come in regarding this.

Welcome to the new age of a strong Rupees!

Shop in Dubai Using INR

This week, UAE and India signed a very crucial currency swap agreement, amounting to Dh2 billion or 35 billion Indian rupees, which will not only help these two countries to build their ties, but also make Rupees stronger.

UAE’s minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation, Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Sushma Swaraj, India’s Minister of External Affairs in Abu Dhabi and announced this mega cooperation.

As part of this currency exchange program, Indians can now shop in Dubai using INR: Hence, there is no need to convert currency into dollars or dirham to do shopping in Dubai anymore.

Indian Embassy in Dubai said, “The bilateral currency swap agreement between India and UAE is expected to reduce the dependency on hard currencies like US dollar,”

This move will make trading between UAE and India more seamless, easy, and also remove the high transaction cost pertaining to USD conversion, and avoid the volatility of the forex market.

India and UAE’s bilateral ties stand at $54 billion, and non-oil trade is $34 billion. While Indians pumped in $6.6 billion into UAE as FDI last year, UAE’s FDI into India was $5.8 billion.

We can expect the trade ties between India and UAE to grow further, after this currency exchange agreement.

Iran Will Accept INR For Oil Payments

Meanwhile, within 24 hours after the currency swap between UAE and India was announced, India has scored another major win for INR in the Middle East.

India and Iran have now signed a pact, based on which, Iran will accept payments for oil purchased by India in INR.

This is a major news, because till now, India paid to Iran using euros, and a strong dollar against Rupees meant huge overheads.

Now on, India can pay for the oil directly into the UCO Bank account of the National Iranian Oil Co (NIOC).
India is right now Iran’s 2nd largest purchaser of crude oil after China and purchases 1.25 million tonne or 15 million tonne in a year (300,000 barrels a day).

Iran is World’s 3rd largest supplier of crude oil after Iraq and Saudi Arabia, and India is the world’s third-biggest oil consumer, as it meets 80% of its oil needs via imports.

We are consulting with financial experts, and trying to understand whether this trade of oil via INR will lead to cheaper oil prices in India or not.

We will keep you updated. Do you think that cheques are losing its relevance in this age of mobile wallets and UPI? Do share your opinions by commenting right here!

Xiaomi to Launch a New Smartphone With 48MP Camera in January 2019

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has grown in leaps and bounds in the last few years. With its really affordable and attractive pricing and competitive specifications, Xiaomi’s phones have managed to dominate the Indian smartphone market. With that being said, the company hasn’t lost its focus on innovating its phones. The brand had introduced the Xiaomi Mi MIX smartphone which made the bezel-less screens mainstream. Now, Xiaomi has teased yet another revolutionary addition to one of its line-up, a 48MP camera sensor. On top of that, Xiaomi has also announced that this phone would probably launch in January 2019.

48MP Sensor Camera Phone – Mi Mix 3S or Mi 9?

Now with phones like Galaxy Note 9, iPhone XS and Google Pixel 3 in the market right now, which also enable top class imaging capability, what the new smartphone by Xiaomi will ship in terms of imaging quality is yet to be seen.

Xiaomi President, Lin Bin took to the Chinese social media site and microblogging platform, Weibo, and shared an image of the new phone which comes with the 48MP camera sensor. On taking a closer look at the picture, we get to see a 48MP camera sensor which is paired with a dual-tone LED flash. On the side edge of the phone, we also spot the volume rockers thus confirming that this sensor makes its way on the rear side of the phone. Another thing to note is that this camera module appears to be placed on a raised section of the device, which points towards the direction of a dual or triple rear camera setup. Even Xiaomi’s global spokesperson, Donovan Sung confirmed the phone would launch in January 2019.

As per the reports surfacing online, this new phone is expected to make its way into the market in January 2019. Now the question remains whether this phone will be the successor to the Mi 8 or the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 or Mi Mix 3S. Since we know that Xiaomi has kept its Mi 7 and Mi 8 release for post-MWC slots, it is rather unlikely that the phone will be the successor to the Mi 8. On the other hand, this could mean that the phone makes its debut as a 5G version of the Mi Mix 3 or the Mi Mix 3S. Also, as we know from previous updates, the 5G phones which are slated to launch in 2019 will come with an expensive price tag and this new 48MP sensor might as well be a new addition from Xiaomi to explain the hefty pricing.

Sony 48MP Sensor vs Samsung 48MP Sensor

There are two options for the new 48MP sensor which Xiaomi seems to be implementing for its next flagship smartphone. The first contender for the spot is the Sony IMX586 camera sensor which was unveiled in July 2018, and it comes with an impressive 48MP resolution. Xiaomi has been known to use Sony IMX sensors for its flagship devices. However, now there is also another 48MP sensor from Samsung which might take the spot on the new phone. This new sensor by Samsung is the ISOCELL Bright GM1 which was unveiled back in October. Both of these camera sensors span a 1/2-inch and feature 0.8?m pixels, and they can render 12MP resolution images with a 1.6?m equivalent light sensitivity.

Unlike sensor with smaller pixels which exhibit poor light sensitivity and higher noise, Sony has asserted that images out of this new 48MP sensor will be able to boast four times dynamic range when compared to the traditional sensors. This will be possible thanks to the real-time HDR functionality and Quad Bayer Array technology. Sony’s sensors have also been claimed to be capable of shooting 4K videos at 90fps which will go well with the newly announced Snapdragon 855 processor.

Tata Sky Users Can Finally Watch All 32 Channels of Sony India

The tussle between DTH service provider Tata Sky and Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) seems to be finally ended. Tata Sky is sending out a text message to its users stating that they can now watch all the 32 channels of Sony India, hinting at a settlement between the two parties. For the unaware, Tata Sky’s contract with SPN India ended back on July 31, 2018, after which it dropped 22 channels of Sony, retaining 11 channels. Now, Tata Sky is providing 32 channels of the Sony India, further renewing its contract. Earlier, Tata Sky subscribers had to give a missed call to the company to view the retained 11 channels, but there’s no such scheme now as all the channels are available for viewing. If you’re subscribed to a particular package of Sony channels, you can start viewing them without any additional hassle.

TDSAT Intervened Between Tata Sky and SPN India

TDSAT has entered the picture when the issue happened back then. “Tata Sky subscribers faced issues with the absence of SPN channels. “…we direct both the parties to sit across the table and try to work out a mutually acceptable negotiated agreement within a period of four weeks from today. If required the parties may seek an extension of the period,” TDSAT said in its order.

The matter has been listed for November 11 for considering the outcome of the fresh round of negotiations which the parties are to carry out in the meantime. And finally, it seems to have settled now as mentioned above. Tata Sky is pushing a message to the users as “All 32 Channels of Sony are now available on Tata Sky. Happy Viewing.”

What’s the Issue Between Tata Sky and SPN India?

Earlier in October, Tata Sky dropped 22 channels of Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) and three of TV Today Network on pricing issues. SPN’s three-year contract with Tata Sky had expired on July 31, and the two since then have been negotiating on a new pricing deal. That said, Tata Sky retained 11 channels of SPN India including popular ones such as SET, SONY SAB, SET HD, Sony Six, Sony Ten 1 and so on.

The contract tenure between SPN and Tata Sky came to an end on July 31. After the talks for a negotiated agreement did not yield any result, SPN served a notice to Tata Sky on September 7, followed by a public notice on September 10. Consequently, Tata Sky opted for an RIO-based agreement effective September 30 midnight for ten channels.

SPN India Sought Rs 1,700 Crore for Contract Renewal

This is an interesting aspect which came out. Tata Sky had pointed out that negotiations failed because the demand was for Rs 1,700 crore and that too when the right of telecasting IPL matches was no longer available with SPN as it has been won recently by another broadcaster. Under the old terms, SPN was getting Rs 800 crore approximately.

So SPN India sought more than double the amount of previous contract value and that too without the rights of IPL. For the unaware, Sony India owned the rights to broadcast IPL matches for ten years since 2008. But in September 2017, Star India pipped Sony to bag the rights for four years- 2018-2022. Having said that, there are no details available on the new contract between Sony India and Tata Sky.

Samsung Galaxy S10+ was recently leaked in the form of renders which revealed its rumored quad camera setup. The leak also shows dual in-screen camera at the front of the device. Now, we have another leak pertaining to a Galaxy S10+ that only has a dual rear camera setup.

The leaks so far claim that there will be a 5.8-inch model, likely to be called the Galaxy S10, will come in two forms: a flat display design and a curved model. The Galaxy S10+ could arrive in 6.2-inch and 6.44-inch display sizes with the larger display model offering 5G connectivity and a total of six cameras. The base model is expected to come with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor while the premium model will include Qualcomm-designed in-display fingerprint sensor.

Alongside this leaked image of the Galaxy S10+, the smartphone has also stopped by benchmark to reveal the guts of Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 under the hood. The benchmark suggests that Snapdragon 855 inside the Galaxy S10+ will be faster than Kirin 980 powering Mate 20 Pro and Exynos 9820 likely to be used on Galaxy S10 models in Asian marke

Vodafone Idea, the country’s leading telecommunications service provider is sending out SMSes to its users stating to stay away from suspicious numbers. Telcos usually warn their users to stay alert all the time and not pick up any unwanted incoming voice calls received on their mobile phone, but this time around, Vodafone Idea is sending out a text message to each and every customer notifying that there might be some threat behind that suspicious voice call. “While receiving an international call, if an Indian number or no number us displayed on your phone, please inform on toll-free number 1800-110-420 or 1963,” reads the message from Vodafone Idea.

Vodafone Idea Urges Users to Keep the Company Informed About Suspicious Calls

The newly formed entity of Vodafone India and Idea Cellular is seeking help from its subscribers to trace out these calls. As the message by the company reads, it’s asking the users who received an anonymous voice call to immediately inform by calling the toll-free numbers- ‘1963’ or ‘1800-110-420’. This news is reported by ET Telecom stating that several Vodafone Idea customers are receiving the same message.

For the unaware, the two helpline numbers mentioned above were introduced by Trai last year, making it easier for subscribers to immediately report any suspicious call they receive. Every year, the government traces out such anonymous calls from unknown mobile numbers based on Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), so if you receive any such voice call, go ahead and dial the numbers mentioned above.

Another interesting data to note is that the government traced out various illegal exchanges last year in Delhi. According to the report, the government had traced out 11 illegal exchanges in 2016-17 in Andhra Pradesh, six in Eastern Uttar Pradesh in 2017-18, two issues in Kerala and one issue in Odisha. While Andhra Pradesh had the maximum illegal exchanges of 11 in 2016-17, the count reduced to zero in 2017-18.

Other Telcos Also Warn Their Users to Stay Alert

This is not the first time we’re seeing such useful messages from a telco. In the past, Bharti Airtel also warned its users always to stay away from an anonymous call asking for any of your details or trying to make an illegal activity. The new entrant Reliance Jio also keeps its users updated about such info.

Install Anti-Spam Apps to Stay Active

There are several mobile applications available on the web which gives information about the call or text message you’re receiving. For example, we have Truecaller which runs in the background and gives you the Caller ID for an incoming call. Also, it displays whether the mobile number is marked as spam or not. Usually, Truecaller works on the data given by public and if a user marks a particular number as spam, it will be displayed as spam for other users as well.

Reliance Jio did not revise its tariff plans for nearly 11 months now, but the telco is still providing the best prepaid tariffs in the industry. Telcos such as BSNL, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea came close to Jio in the benefits aspect, but never outsmarted Jio.

Vodafone India revised its postpaid offerings to stay ahead of Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio. Following Vodafone, Airtel also revised its postpaid plans which are almost in-line with what Vodafone is providing.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has the habit of revising broadband plans for every three or six months. Following the same trend, the largest wired broadband service provider in the country has now revised its broadband plans across the country including Kerala circle.

It's been a year since we've seen the first devices running Windows on Snapdragon, and Qualcomm is continuing its quest to make a capable ARM-based processor for PCs. On the third of its three-day tech summit in Hawaii today, the company unveiled the Snapdragon 8cx. It's Qualcomm's second made-for-Windows chipset, but one that the company says offers significantly better performance and energy efficiency. So much more, in fact, that the "x" in 8cx stands for "extreme."

Like the just-announced Snapdragon 855, the Snapdragon 8cx is built on a 7nm process -- a first in the compute space, according the company. This transistor-rich footprint should bring about much better power performance and potentially longer battery life. The 8cx is also designed for fanless laptops so as to keep those devices thin and light enough to carry everywhere all day.

Inside the 8cx is a brand new graphics processor, the Adreno 680 Extreme, which Qualcomm said is twice as fast as the Adreno GPU on the Snapdragon 850, and 3.5 times faster than the first Snapdragon PCs using the 835 chipset. Plus, the Adreno 680 features a doubled memory interface from 64bit to 128bit wide, and is supposed to be 60% more power efficient than the 850's graphics chip. In all, Qualcomm is calling this the "most extreme GPU (it) has ever made."

The company also made a new octa-core Kryo 495 CPU for the chipset, and designed it to run Chrome better than the Snapdragon 850 thanks to the increased cache (now 10MB).

App compatibility looks to be improved this around too, at least partially because developers have put more work into transplanting software onto these always-connected machines. For now, at least, Qualcomm said it's been testing getting Chromium ported over to ARM, and it confirmed that Firefox had built an ARM-friendly version of its namesake browser for these machines.

One of the key advantages of a Snapdragon PC over say an Intel connected laptop is Qualcomm's LTE radios. The Snapdragon 8cx comes with an X24 gigabit LTE modem, so it's not exactly a 5G-ready card. But you should be able to get up to 2 Gbps transfers where your carrier has the necessary infrastructure.

The new chipset also represents the first time the Snapdragon platform is ready for Windows 10 enterprise users, which means businesses can buy these PCs for their employees with easy control for IT administrators.

With the Snapdragon 8cx, Qualcomm is also introducing Quick Charge 4+ for PCs, so you can get recharged fast when you run out of juice. The chipset also comes with Qualcomm's Aqstic suite of audio technologies like codecs, smart amplifiers and software to offer high-def Bluetooth wireless audio, as well as support voice assistants. You'll also be able to stream HiFi audio thanks to Qualcomm's aptX technology.

There's also support for second-generation USB 3.1 over Type C and third-generation PCI-E so you can connect a wide variety of peripherals. In fact, you can link up to two 4K HDR monitors to your Snapdragon 8cx-equipped laptop.

In addition to all those improvements, Qualcomm is also promising multi-day battery life with the Snapdragon 8cx. Given the company already promises up to 20 and 25 hours on laptops using the Snapdragon 835 and 850 respectively, the idea of several days of juice doesn't seem too ludicrous. Of course, it'll depend on what other components laptop makers use.

The Snapdragon 850 isn't going away any time soon, though -- think of it as sort of like an Intel U-series chip compared to the beefier Snapdragon 8cx, which is more like Intel's Y series. Presumably, 8cx-powered PCs will cost more than their 850-packing counterparts, too. Qualcomm said there will be more laptops packing the Snapdragon 850 next year, in addition to the first 8cx product which start shipping in the third quarter of 2019.

Its screen has an 18.7:9 aspect ratio, 81.5 percent screen-to-body ratio, polished with 500 nits peak brightness and is capable of a 96 percent color gamut.

A 3,500mAh battery promises 22 hours of uninterrupted talk time.

Nokia has declared that 8.1 will have the new Bothie feature, which will allow the user to operate both front and primary cameras at the same time.

In the rear, there are two cameras: A primary 12-megapixel camera, which is helped by a 13-megapixel secondary camera for depth sensing; both of which has a Sony’s IMX 363 sensor.

Meanwhile, the front camera will have a 20-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture.

Difference Between Nokia 8.1 and Nokia 7 Plus

Nokia 7 Plus, which was launched in February 2018 with a price tag of Rs 23,699. On the other hand, Nokia 8.1 is based on the Nokia X7, which was launched in China a few months back.

Hence, a comparison between Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8.1 is pretty natural here.

Here are the major differences:

  • While Nokia 7 Plus has 6-inch full-HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) IPS LCD panel with an 18:9 aspect ratio; Nokia 8.1 has a bigger 6.18-inch full-HD+ (1080×2244 pixels) panel with a taller 18.7:9 aspect ratio and HDR10 support. Hence, Nokia 8.1 has better graphics and display than Nokia 7 Plus.
  • Nokia 7 Plus is powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, which supports 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB of onboard storage, which can be extended to 256 GB. On the other hand, Nokia 8.1 is powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC, which supports with 4GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage, which can be extended to 400 GB. Hence, Nokia 8.1 has a better processing power and can accommodate more storage compared to Nokia 7 Plus.
  • In the camera department, the major difference comes in the front camera or selfie camera part: While Nokia 7 Plus had 16-megapixel fixed focus selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture, 1-micron pixels, and Zeiss optics; Nokia 8.1 has 20-megapixel fixed focus selfie camera with 0.9 micron pixels and 4-in-1 pixel tech for improved low light photography. In the rear camera department, both have 13 MP and 12 MP combination dual camera. Hence, if selfies are your priorities, then Nokia 8.1 wins hands down.
  • In the comparison for battery, Nokia 7 Plus has a slight advantage with 3,800mAh battery; whereas Nokia 8.1 has a 3,500mAh battery. Both support fast charging.
  • Dimension wise, Nokia 8.1 is slightly smaller with 154.8×75.76×7.97mm, compared to Nokia 7 Plus which has dimensions of 158.38×75.64×7.99mm.

Whenever we plan to travel abroad, perhaps one of the first questions that comes to our mind is: “How am I going to stay connected when I’m there?” And that’s not surprising at all. While it’s true that hotels and other places generally have free Wi-Fi in most countries around the world, you still need to be able to make (and take) calls.

Now, you can always get a local SIM (available at most international airports) whenever you land, but it’s always better to plan beforehand. So, the easiest option is to get an international roaming pack activated on your number. That way, you can continue to stay connected through your permanent number, even when you’re abroad.

Telecom operators in India offer quite a few international roaming packs, and these vary based on factors like duration of validity, and calling/data benefits. But which of them offers the best value for your money? Your muscles are made of protein, so if you’re building muscle you need to eat up. But how much protein do you really need? More than a couch potato, but less than the protein-crazy gym bros would have you believe. Here’s how to quickly calculate the real answer.

First, know that there are two factors to consider: how big you are, and how active you are. If you know you carry a lot of fat, you can calculate based on your ideal body weight instead of your actual body weight. We have the full details in our guide to protein, but here’s the short answer:

Here's How Much Protein You Really Need

If you’re sedentary or lightly active and maintaining your weight

Most of us will do fine on the RDA of 0.36 grams of protein per pound of total body weight—but consider that a minimum. That means:
  • If you weigh 100 pounds, eat at least 36 grams of protein each day.
  • If you weigh 150 pounds, eat at least 54 grams of protein each day.
  • If you weigh 200 pounds, eat at least 72 grams of protein each day.
  • If you weigh 250 pounds, eat at least 90 grams of protein each day.

If you run or bike a lot

For endurance sports, you’ll want between 0.54 and 0.63 grams of protein per pound of total body weight, per day. More is fine, but not necessary.
  • If you weigh 100 pounds and do endurance sports, eat 54 to 63 grams of protein each day.
  • If you weigh 150 pounds and do endurance sports, eat 81 to 95 grams of protein each day.
  • If you weigh 200 pounds and do endurance sports, eat 108 to 126 grams of protein each day.
  • If you weigh 250 pounds and do endurance sports, eat 135 to 157 grams of protein each day.

If you’re chasing those gainz

If you lift a lot and you’re trying to gain muscle, more protein will help you meet that goal. Gym bros who tell you to eat one gram of protein per pound of body weight are way overestimating, though. The upper end of the range, according to legit sports nutrition sources, varies from 0.76 to 0.9 grams per pound of total body weight for strength athletes. The lower end of each organization’s range is in the ballpark of 0.6. So to cover all our bases, here’s a chart based on a consensus range of 0.6 to 0.9 grams per pound:

  • If you weigh 100 pounds and lift a lot, eat 60 to 90 grams of protein each day.
  • If you weigh 150 pounds and lift a lot, eat 90 t0 135 grams of protein each day.
  • If you weigh 200 pounds and lift a lot, eat 120 to 180 grams of protein each day.
  • If you weigh 250 pounds and lift a lot, eat 150 to 225 grams of protein each day.
All of these numbers are meant to be daily averages. If you prefer to eat more on days you work out, and less on rest days, that’s fine—just aim for the average.

What happens if I eat the wrong amount?

If you eat too little protein, you may have trouble building muscle in the gym. If you’re losing weight, you can end up losing muscle as well as fat.

If you eat too much protein, nothing terrible happens, but the extra protein is just calories. In that case, you might prefer eating those calories in the form of food you really enjoy, instead of mountains of hard boiled eggs and chicken breasts.
