Accessories brand Digitek has launched a new ‘anti-lost’ wireless tracker at a price of Rs 595 which will help users to track lost objects. The tracker is paired with an app called ‘Digitek Tracker’ that is available on both Apple App Store and Android Google Play for free.
The tracker is available in three different designs in Black and White colours. It can be attached to a key chain, fitted in a wallet, fixed on the laptop or even tagged in children’s clothing or pet. Once it is paired with the mobile app, the location of the tracker is revealed. It has Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity and comes with an extra set of battery. The tracker can be used to secure cars as well in parking lots. It can detect the car by triggering the inbuilt alarm.
The distance range within which the tracker can operate can be configured and altered. It allows a maximum range of 30 meters. Just like the Honor 10, there has been no news regarding the Indian launch of the MagicBook. However, in China the laptop is up for pre-order starting today, i.e. April 19. The sale of the laptop starts on April 23.

After launching their own 4G feature phone (JioPhone), Reliance Jio’s next big move to increase its average revenue per user seems to be a laptop with a SIM card. The Mukesh Ambani led telecom major is in talks with US-based chipmaker Qualcomm to bring out laptops running Windows 10 with built-in cellular connections for the Indian market.
The Qualcomm laptops will apparently be bundled with Jio 4G connections. Qualcomm is already working with Jio and Reliance Retail to bring out a 4G feature phone. “…we have talked to Jio. They could take the device and bundle it with data and content,” Miguel Nunes, senior director, product management, Qualcomm Technologies, told Economic Times.
The company has been touting its Snapdragon Mobile Platform as future of mobile laptop computing which will bring the next-gen “Always Connected PCs”. The chip maker, meanwhile also talking with the homegrown Internet of Things brand Smartron to bring Snapdragon 835 powered laptops. Smartron has confirmed the same. Besides, Nunes said that there are now 14 operators that have extended their support for this new category of connected PCs, including the US’ Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and major carriers in Germany, Italy, the UK, France, and Australia. They announced three devices the HP Envy x2, Lenovo Miix 630 and Asus NovaGo powered by Snapdragon 835 and running Windows 10.
The companies claimed that in addition to LTE connectivity, the SD 835 powered devices come with increased battery life with laptops providing 20 hours battery backup. Panasonic has unveiled the updated version of its Toughbook 20 rugged 2-in-1 lightweight laptop. The company had first introduced the Toughbook CF-20 laptop 3 years ago and launched it in India in 2016. Fast forward to 2018, the updated Toughbook 20 retains the same 10.1-inch display in a convertible tablet form factor.
However, Panasonic has upgraded a few things, as the new version comes with a faster processor and promises better battery life. First up, is the Intel Core i5-7Y57 vPro processor featuring a Turbo Boost of up to 3.3GHz, that Panasonic has introduced in the 2018 update. The laptop comes with 6GB or 8GB RAM and 256GB of SSD storage, expandable up to 512GB. It has an Intel 615 HD graphics card too.
Users will also another option of a model with Intel Core M5-6Y57 vPro processor with Turbo Boost up to 2.8GHz and an Intel 515 HD graphics card. This variant ships with a 128GB SSD. Further, Panasonic has packed a 'bridge battery' in the Toughbook 20 to let users swap batteries without having to turn off the laptop. Additionally, there is an optional second battery that can be inserted into the keyboard to double battery life (up to 17 hours).
The new Toughbook 20 comes with Windows 10 Pro by default. However, it will offer Windows 7 Professional as an option on models with Intel's Core m5-6Y57 processor. Additionally, the new Toughbook 20 model will come with an integrated digitiser alongside a touchscreen, an infrared webcam, and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera.
Other specifications include an optional 4G LTE connectivity with eSIM technology, which is understandable since the company is pitching the product for environments like field services, utilities, oil and gas, transportation and logistics, healthcare, insurance, public safety, and defence. It is also is also millitary-grade MIL-STD-810G certified and is IP65 certified against dust and water. The Panasonic Toughbook 20 is currently available for purchase from authorised Panasonic resellers at an estimated price starting around $3,099 (roughly Rs. 1,99,100).

Dell on Tuesday announced the launch of the Dell XPS 13 in India, which was unveiled at CES last month. The XPS 13, claimed to be the smallest 13-inch laptop in the world, comes with the latest 8th generation Intel Core processors, a 4K Ultra HD InfinityEdge display on select variants, and a claimed battery life of more than 19 hours on a single full charge of the full-HD variant.

iBall has launched a new laptop in India, further expanding its portfolio in the country. The iBall CompBook Premio v2.0 is priced at Rs. 21,999 and is available via retail outlets across the country. The new launch comes right after the Indian company announced models such as the iBall CompBook Exemplaire+, iBall CompBook Aer3, and an iBall Slide PenBook Windows 10 2-in-1 device.
The iBall CompBook Premio v2.0 laptop sports a 14-inch HD display with 1366x768 resolution. It comes with a touchpad with multi-touch functionality. The laptop is powered by the Intel Apollo Lake N4200 Pentium Quad Core processor, capable of up to 2.5 GHz speeds.
The CompBook Premio v2.0 packs a 38Wh Li-Polymer battery. The laptop offers 4GB of DDR3 RAM and has 32GB of in-built storage, expandable up to 128 GB via microSD slot. Users can also opt for additional internal storage (up to 1TB SSD or 2.5-inch SATA HDD of 7mm thickness) at the time of ordering the laptop. The latest iBall laptop runs on Windows 10 Home but you can upgrade to Windows 10 Pro for an additional Rs. 3,000.
Connectivity options on the iBall CompBook Premio v2.0 include inbuilt dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, mini HDMI v1.4a, and USB 3.0 port. The laptop packs a 0.3-megapixel camera as well. The laptop comes in a Gun Mustard Metallic colour variant. In terms of dimensions the laptop measures 33.4x22.2x2.4cm and weighs 1.30 kg (without the HDD). Along with the laptop, users will get a user manual, a power adapter, and USB Cable. Notably, the Premio v2.0 comes with 1-year warranty.

Microsoft has announced that its Office 2019 suite -- to be available in the second half of 2018 -- will only work on Windows 10 operating system. "Office 2019 will ship in H2 of 2018. Previews of the new apps and servers will start shipping in the second quarter of 2018.
Office 2019 apps will be supported on any supported Windows 10 Semi-Annual Channel (SAC) release," the company wrote in a blog post late on Thursday. "Office 2019 will provide five years of mainstream support and approximately two years of extended support.
This is an exception to our 'Fixed Lifecycle Policy' to align with the support period for Office 2016. Extended support will end 10/14/2025," the company added. However, there was no change announced regarding the support term for existing versions of Office.
This release has no effect on Office for Mac, which is a separate product with a different release schedule. Last year at Ignite, Microsoft announced Office 2019 -- the next perpetual version of Office that includes apps (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and Skype for Business) and servers (including Exchange, SharePoint, and Skype for Business). The company also announced servicing extensions for Windows 10 and changes to the Office 365 ProPlus system requirements.
The support for Windows 10 (versions 1511, 1607, 1703, and 1709) for enterprise and education customers running certain versions of the operating system was extended for another six months to help them move to the latest supported versions of the operating system.

Price and style often go hand in hand when shopping for a new laptop. In general, the more money you’re willing to plop down for a machine, the better it’s going to look and feel. As Asus highlights with its latest Ultrabook, however, that doesn’t always have to be the case.

The Asus VivoBook S is an affordable machine that looks way more appealing than its price point would suggest. It features a modest 15.6-inch matte display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 driven by either an Intel Core i5-7200U or Core i7-7500U processor, Intel HD graphics and 8GB (or up to 32GB) of RAM.

Local storage is handled by a 128GB M.2 SATA solid state drive and a 1TB 5,400 RPM hard drive although again, for a bit more coin, you can upgrade to a pair of 1TB SSDs (there’s also an SD card reader for easy expansion / file transfers).

Windows 10 comes standard, as does the 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 wireless connectivity and 42WHr, 3-cell li-ion battery. You also get a full complement of I/O ports including USB 3.1 Type-C, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, HDMI and a combination audio jack.

What sets the system apart from most budget laptops is the beautiful brushed aluminum chassis and slim measurements. The VivoBook S measures 14.2 inches wide and 0.7 inches thick with a bezel of just 0.3 inches which Asus says affords an 80 percent screen-to-body ratio.

Pricing starts at just $699 (Core i5, 8GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive) although I’d highly recommend springing for a model with a solid state drive (starting at $799). Systems are available as of writing from several retailers including B&H and Newegg as well as directly from Asus .

It's taken a couple of years but Lenovo is planning to release a retro-styled ThinkPad that brings back the style of the 1990s with 21st century computing power. If it's really like the ThinkPads of old, it will be a very robust computer with the best keyboard on the market and be able to withstand some heavy duty action - those computers were built to last.

First announced a couple of years ago, the new retro ThinkPad will mark the 25th anniversary of the ThinkPad.

While all the speeds and feeds are still under wraps - Lenovo doesn't comment on unreleased products - the existence of the device was revealed during an event in New York

David Hill, one of the principle designers of the ThinkPad said, in a recent blog post, the new ThinkPad will be branded with the old multi-coloured logo. He said:

The first corporate laptop I ever had was a ThinkPad, then made by IBM before they sold their PC business to Lenovo. When it came to portable computing, the ThinkPad was the peak of design experimentation. During my three years working at a large dairy company I was fortunate enough to use several different ThinkPads. A couple really stood out.

The IBM ThinkPad 701c was famous for its "butterfly" keyboard. Released in 1995, this computer had a 10.4-inch display. In order for IBM to fit a full keyboard into this small body, they separated it into two halves. When you flipped the LCD open, the keyboard opened out and the two halves joined delivering a full-sized keyboard that hung over the edges of the computer's chassis. It was like magic.

The other was the ThinkPad 755CDV. Like the 701c, it also had a 10.4-inch display. But, and remember this was in the day when a projector for presentations was about as large as an ICBM and cost thousands of dollars, the back of the screen snapped off and you could place the 755CDV on to an overhead projector. The light from the projector would pass though the LCD and be displayed up on a big screen.

While we talk about innovation, back in the 1990s the notion of the modern laptop computer was still evolving. IBM was a huge part of the evolution of portable computing. It'll be interesting to see how Lenovo's '90s throwback compares.
