Sony is working on the next major update for PlayStation 4, and needs some help testing it.
Sign Up for Sony's Next PS4 Update Beta

Sony hasn't yet offered up any details about the new features users can expect as part of the beta, but promised to share that information soon.
The company on Wednesday opened beta signups for its PS4 system software update 5.0. Interested individuals can head here and sign up for a chance to participate in the beta and "get an advance look at some of the improvements and new features" headed to the console.

"Beta testers for our previous major system software update, version 4.50, got an early peek at features like external HDD support, custom wallpapers, Quick Menu refresh, and much more before launch," Sony Interactive Entertainment America's Andrew Kelly wrote in a blog post.

Sony will be taking registrations now through the start of the beta in early August; just keep in mind that completing the enrollment form doesn't guarantee a place in the beta trial.
"Invitations are at Sony Interactive Entertainment America's discretion," the company wrote on its sign-up page. "Unless you are selected, we will not contact you regarding this beta trial."
If you're selected, Sony will email you with instructions on downloading the beta version. Just be sure you have a valid email address on your PlayStation Network account, or you might miss your chance to participate. You need to be at least 18 years old with an internet-connected PS4.

If the beta is super glitchy, you can roll back to the previous system software at any time.
