7 things you may not know you can do in WhatsApp

OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro get Android Q Developer Preview: Here is how to install
The Chinese smartphone maker announced on its blog post that “the build of Android Q is best suited for developers and early adopters.” It is not clear why OnePlus is targeting developers while Google’s version of Android Q beta 3 seems stable enough even for regular use. However, it needs to be noted that beta software releases are generally filled with bugs that could crash your system, and it is thus advisable not to install Android Q on your primary OnePlus 7 or OnePlus 7 Pro devices.

OnePlus released Android Q Developer preview for the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T right after Google I/O 2019 and now, it is adding the newest flagship devices as well. The company says it does not recommend “flashing this ROM if you have little or no experience in software development or flashing custom ROMs.” There are also a total of seven known issues listed by the company in its blog post and those alone warrant not flashing the beta release of Android Q on your OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro.

The known issues listed by the company include ambient display, which reportedly does not work with Android Q Developer Preview. There are also system stability issues and OnePlus 7 Series users will not be able to send SMS when VoLTE is enabled on their smartphone. Other problems noted by the company include navigation gesture, which is not working and recovery mode also does not work. In the Developer preview release, there could be issues with applications where some apps might not function as expected. There is also a known issue with MTP, which does not allow users to copy rollback file from PC to phone.

While there are a number of issues with the Developer preview of Android Q for OnePlus 7 Series, it does not mean you cannot check out the new features being introduced with Android Q. Those planning to flash must bear in mind that there is a risk of bricking your phone if the instructions are not followed carefully. OnePlus recommends that the battery level of the OnePlus 7 or OnePlus 7 Pro is above 30 percent and minimum of 3GB of storage is available before flashing the smartphone. If you are ready to get Android Q on your new OnePlus smartphones then here is how you can flash your device:

Moving from Stable Official Version to Developer Preview Version

1. If you have a OnePlus 7 or OnePlus 7 Pro then it will be running the stable official version of Android 9 Pie and the first step is to download the latest ROM upgrade zip package from the specified server. For OnePlus 7 (https://oxygenos.oneplus.net/OnePlus7_13.W.01_OTA_001_all_1905191801_fullupgrade_c7f1193579a84919.zip) and OnePlus 7 Pro (https://oxygenos.oneplus.net/OnePlus7Pro_13.W.01_OTA_001_all_1904301405_wipe_deabd74275e0432d.zip).
2. Now, copy this ROM upgrade package to the phone storage.
3. Go to Settings -> System -> System Updates -> Click top right icon -> Local upgrade -> Click on the corresponding installation package -> upgrade -> System upgrade completed to 100%.
4. Click Restart once the upgrade is complete.
5. Your phone will reboot into recovery mode to format all existing user data and it will reboot again after formatting to the Developer preview of Android Q.
6. When you see the message “Update Successful” then you can start exploring Android Q on OnePlus 7 Series.

How to rollback from Android Q Developer preview to Android 9 Pie

1. This is also pretty easy since you can rollback or flash your device using local OTA update method. Like the above steps, download the latest ROM upgrade zip package from the specified server. You can find OnePlus 7 package at (https://oxygenos.oneplus.net/fulldowngrade_wipe_MSM_18857_190505_1527_user.zip) and OnePlus 7 Pro at (https://oxygenos.oneplus.net/fulldowngrade_wipe_MSM_18857_190505_1527_user.zip).
2. Once downloaded, copy the rollback package to your phone storage.
3. Go to Settings -> System -> System Updates -> Click top right icon -> Local upgrade -> Click on the corresponding installation package -> upgrade -> System upgrade completed to 100%.
4. Click Restart once the upgrade is complete.
5. Your phone will reboot into recovery mode to format all existing user data and it will reboot again after formatting to the stable version of Android Pie.
6. When you see the message “Update Successful” then you can start using the newest release of stable version of Android.

Smartphones have evolved over the years in terms of imaging technology. Today there are smartphones which can challenge the likes of professional cameras, thanks to varying lenses, betters ISPs and technology.
From single to dual, smartphones are now racing towards mainstream three cameras.
The second lens became a proprietary feature in smartphones a couple of years back, and now it’s about a third lens. Companies and OEMs are jumping into the slowly growing trend of triple cameras.
Today, we are getting into it to find out whether smartphones actually need an extra third sensor.

Here are some of the best triple camera phones to check out if you're interested in taking peerless pictures with your smartphone. Triple cameras are markedly better at detecting depth of field (for 3D photographs), taking wide-angle shots, giving a better HDR experience, zooming more powerfully and shooting in low-light – so you have the advantage of DSLR-like images without the hassle of a clunky machine. Ahead, the best triple camera phones you can get to up your mobile photography game.

1. Best Triple camera phones that you can buy
These are the triple camera phones currently available in the market. Needless to say, this trend is going to continue fervently over the coming years and even the chipset companies are designing their new processors to include multiple camera modules. We will keep updating the list as relevant phones surface in the future.

2. Do Smartphones Need Three Cameras?
There are smartphones which offer excellent results even with a single sensor. While some do the job quite well with two cameras. So why we need a third or even a fourth sensor? Pixel smartphones still come with a single sensor and depend on post-processing for better photographs.

Are the additional sensor is more of a gimmick?

Not actually. More sensors offer a smartphone to utilize more possibilities.

Again, extra sensors don’t guarantee good pictures, if the post-processing technology is trash.

With an additional sensor, a smartphone can use pixel binning to improve low-light performance with high-resolution sensors.

Cameras can benefit from a switchable aperture. Aperture determines how much light will reach the sensor. More light helps to reduce noise and produce brighter pictures in the dark. While most of the second lens works as a telephoto sensor, helping to produce higher resolution pictures when cropped.
Some companies use the second lens as a monochrome sensor, ideal for pixel binning to improve photography performance in low light.

3. So, More Sensors Help Improve Photography?
Nope. If the post-processing and software are not worth it, additional sensors won’t help. Take the example of Google Pixel devices or iPhone XR. These are some great single-lens smartphones depending upon software for better pictures.

There is software which uses image combining techniques to produce high-quality pictures.

Finally, the purpose of an additional lens came into existence for lossless zooming, wide-angle shots and portraits with added bokeh. From 2X to 3X to 5X to 10X zooming technology now from Oppo, there are smartphones which justify the use of an additional lens.

Let’s check out some of the best three camera smartphones available in the market.

Android Q Beta Official Now

The next generation Android Q beta is now official. The beta version has been released to all the existing Pixel devices including the first generation Pixel smartphones. The tenth OS version from Google come with a few changes, keeping most of it from Android Pie. There are a number of new privacy and security features on the latest Android Q beta version, including support for the new foldable Android smartphones.

Finally, Google has released the first beta version of Android Q, giving an early glimpse of what would be coming in its next mobile operating system.

The update comes with some notable improvements like native support for foldable phones and can be downloaded on any Pixel phone, including the original ones.

Here's a complete list of incoming features and a guide to install the update.

Now, Pixel owners can try Android Q beta: Here's how

What you will be getting in first Android Q beta

Typically, Google's first Android beta comes as a developer-targeted preview focusing more on under-the-hood changes rather than bigger capabilities.

However, for Android Q, the search giant is offering some notable changes, including a new privacy setting allowing users to change location access for different apps. Fun2Ind.com

Using this option, you'll be able to ensure that an app gets your location only when it's being used.

Plus, there are more controls for file access

Along with location control, Google is also offering enhanced controls to limit and keep tabs on how much access apps will have to your photos, videos, or downloads.

Native support for foldables

Another big change in the first beta of Android Q is native support for foldables, just as Google promised.

With the latest iteration, developers would be able to test how apps would appear/work in different foldable phone modes - using an improved Android Emulator.

The update also offers capabilities to resize apps in split-screen mode and to manage their background behavior.

New settings panel, Wi-Fi modes

Among other things, Google is also introducing new Wi-Fi modes and a quick access setting panel in Android Q.

The former will let users switch to a low latency mode aimed at improving video calls and gaming experiences.

Meanwhile, the latter will pop-up within apps, giving users instant access to settings needed for the program to work (like Wi-Fi and mobile data in Chrome).

Photo and Video improvements in Android Q

For those look for multimedia upgrades, Android Q will come with a feature called Dynamic Depth.

The capability will allow apps to use depth map data - background and foreground details of a photo - and produce a range of blurs and bokeh effects for portrait shots. MobAsk.com

Notably, the OS will also support AV1 video codec for high-resolution video streaming with minimal data consumption.

How to install Android Q Beta 1

Any Pixel phone user can try the latest Android version, but it should be noted that this is an unfinished build and might be unstable.

Now, if you are willing to take the risk, back up all the data on your device and enroll for Google's Android beta program.

Once that's done, you'll get an OTA update notification to download the Android Q beta.

1. Google releases Android Q Beta 1 for all Pixels – here’s what we know so far
2. Android Q developer beta is available now on all Pixel devices
3. Android Q Improved privacy controls, support for foldable screens, and more

Support for foldable phones

Foldable phones are the big theme in mobile design this year, and Google is ready for it. The company has made changes to the way Android handles split-screen applications to improve their usability on folding devices. Google also says it plans to integrate support for folding displays in the Android Emulator for developers soon. soas.in

Basic theme engine

Google doesn’t mention it in its official blog post, but Android Police spotted for some theming options in Android Q’s developer settings. You can pick between different accent colors, headline and body fonts, and icon shapes. Among the accent colors there’s blue (the default), black, green, and purple.

There’s no guarantee these will make it into the final build of Android Q, mind you – Google teased a dark mode in previous versions of Android, only to pull them in the final release – but a man can dream.

Location sharing only when you want it

Why should an app require access to your location even if you’re not actively using it? It’s understandable for things like navigation apps, but for your delivery app of choice, not so much. Android Q allows you to fine-tune control over location sharing; when an app asks for your location data, you can select “allow only while the app is in use” or “allow all the time.” It’s a small but important step that could go a long way towards preventing apps from abusing data collection.

Other privacy changes include limiting access to information like IMEI and serial numbers or preventing apps from unexpectedly jumping into the foreground.

Manage phone settings within an app

Google is giving developers the ability to incorporate a system settings panel right within their app, allowing you to do things like turn on wi-fi or airplane mode without ever leaving your browser. Fun2Ind.com

Better Wi-Fi

Android Q now allows developers to enable high performance and low latency Wi-Fi modes, which should improve performance in games, calls, and more

Portrait mode and depth effects in more apps

While some camera apps take a stab at portrait mode, chances are your phone’s camera app has the most realistic depth effects. Google is making it easier for apps to use depth data by allowing apps to request a JPEG + Dynamic Depth image, allowing them to offer different kinds of blur effects. Google says it’s working with device partners to make Dynamic Depth an open format available across devices running Android Q and later. MobAsk.com

How to install the Android Q beta on a Google Pixel

One major change coming to Q is an additional privacy setting for location access that will let users limit apps to only pull that information while the app is in use, instead of just giving a blanket switch to for apps to either always have location access or never have it. Google is also putting new limits on the access apps will get to things like photos, videos, and audio as well as any downloaded files on devices.

Also coming in Q is better support for foldable phones, which is something that Google already promised back in November. Q is getting better support for resuming and pausing apps from running in the background as well as improvements to resizing apps for split-screen modes, all of which should be helpful for when the first foldable devices like the Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X are released later this year. soas.in

Another neat feature is a new Settings Panel API, which will let developers give instant, pop-up access to phone settings like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and NFC without having to kick users out to the settings app and back. The idea is that if you’re, say, setting up a Bluetooth speaker, your configuration app would be able to pop up the device’s native Bluetooth panel to turn on the radios and connect right from the app.

Google is also finally, finally improving the share sheet in Android Q, allowing developers to pre-publish how their apps work with sharing, meaning that the share UI can load instantly instead of having to manually rebuild all the possible options every time. It’s a small change, but one that should make Android Q far more enjoyable to use.

There’s also some new photo and video options in Q: Google is standardizing how depth map images with work with Android through a new Dynamic Depth format that contains a JPEG image, depth metadata, and a depth map bundled together. Developers will be able to pull Dynamic Depth images from devices with cameras that support it, meaning that it’ll be easier for third-party apps to offer specialized blurs and bokeh options. Google also announced that Android Q is getting support for the next-generation AV1 video codec, which should offer improved streaming quality with less bandwidth once content providers start supporting it.

Which one among these redefines budget Android niche? The launch of two new smartphones have spurred up a whole new in the budget segment: Redmi Note 7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy M30. While Samsung is trying really hard to take on Xiaomi, the latter is not taking it lightly either.

While Redmi Note 7 Pro has a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 48MP primary sensor and a 5MP depth sensor.

The 48MP Sony IMX 586 sensor on the Note 7 Pro outperforms most of the images captured on Galaxy M30. The latest technology offers better colour reproduction with high definition contrast.

Samsung ships a 15W fast charger, while Redmi Note 7 Pro offers a standard 10W charger in box.

Pricing

Samsung Galaxy M30 and Redmi Note 7 Pro both are available in two storage options: 4GB RAM with 64GB storage and 6GB RAM with 128GB storage.

Redmi Note 7 Pro (64GB): Rs 13,999
Redmi Note 7 Pro (128GB): Rs 16,999

CONCLUSION: Redmi Note 7 Pro vs Galaxy M30

Samsung has been able to deliver an awesome mid-budget smartphone at the price, but Galaxy M30 can’t stand against Redmi Note 7 Pro’s excellent combination of features.

Samsung Galaxy M30 is not a bad smartphone, neither it’s overpriced, but Redmi Note 7 Pro wins big against Galaxy M30.

The combination of a top processor and a great camera throws Redmi Note 7 way ahead. To wrap up, Samsung Galaxy is a great smartphone at the price, but Note 7 Pro is here to rule the market.
