One of the things I like to do every now and then—especially around this time of year—is to start fresh. I’ll think about all the services I’ve signed up for and don’t actually use. Going through and deleting them helps me feel better about my digital sprawl, and it’s a practice I recommend everyone try regularly.

Consumer Reports recently published a great guide that shows you the basic steps for deleting your accounts across 15 different services. While the process isn’t usually that difficult, it can be annoying to have to root through a bunch of settings menus and hyperlinks to figure out how to remove yourself from a service. Facebook

Backing up your data: Click on the drop-down arrow in Facebook’s upper-right corner and select “Settings.” Click on “Your Facebook information,” and then click on the “Download Your Information” link to begin the process. You’ll be able to customize what data you want to save, as well as the quality of any included media files—if you’re worried about space.

Google+

Backing up your data: You have until April to grab your Google+ data before the company kills the service completely. Just visit Google’s “Download Your Data” page to get started.

Instagram

Backing up your data: The service’s relatively new “Download your data” tool is easy to use. On the web, click on the icon that looks like a person to go to your Instagram profile. Then, click on the gear icon and select “Privacy & Security.” Scroll down to the “Data Download” section and click on the “Request download” option to get started.

Deleting your data: Instagram has a handy “Delete your account” page for doing exactly that.

Backing up your data: Visit your Settings & Privacy page, and then scroll down to the “How LinkedIn uses your data” section. Click on the “Download your data” option to get started.

Livejournal

Deleting your data: Pull up your Account Status page and make sure the right Livejournal is selected—if not, pick what you plan to delete from the drop-down menu and click “Switch.” From there, click on the “Account” tab, click on the “Change” link in the “Status” field, pick whether you want to delete comments and community posts you’ve previously made, click on the drop-down “Status” menu and select “Deleted,” and then click the “Submit” button.

Myspace

Backing up your data: Myspace not-so-helpfully notes that you can download individual Myspace images by right-clicking on them and saving them to your desktop or laptop—much like you would on any other website. The service does have a tool for downloading any videos or music you’ve uploaded, but that’s it.

Backing up your data: Pinterest doesn’t have a tool for downloading your data, unfortunately. You’ll have to use a third-party app like Pin4Ever or PinCrawl instead.

Tumblr

Backing up your data: Visit your “Account Settings” page, click on your blog on the right sidebar, and scroll to the bottom until you see the “Export” button.

Backing up your data: Visit your “Account” page and scroll down a bit until you see the “Request your archive” button. Click on that.

Backing up your data: You can request a copy of your Whatsapp data via the app’s Settings menu. However, this won’t include your Whatsapp messages. For those, you’ll need to go the Chats section of your Settings menu, which should give you the option to back up your conversations. MsnTarGet.com

After I had a breakup with my co-partners I was left with only two blogs i.e All MsnTarGet.com. These two were my main blogs from which I had to generate revenue. I didn’t had any other blog which was generating revenue, also I stopped niche blogging as it was short term and I didn’t want to do anything for short term result. I am not saying you to stop niche blogging, I started niche blogging to make money fast, but now my primary goal is not instant income as we are already funded from Angel Investors. So, the main goal is to build some good products which can be automated. Among these two blogs All India Youth was stuck in conspiracy for few reasons which I cannot disclose here. So, I paused working on that blog aswell. Now I was left with only one blog i.e All MsnTarGet.com from which I should generate income. Ofcourse I was running few services from which I was making money but income generated from services is not stable. It can go up and down each month.

So, after a lot of brain storming I decided to work on my own blog All MsnTarGet.com and get its rankings back to normal. After I started company I didn’t put much focus on this blog rather worked on blogs using which we can generate a system. Then I decided to use All MsnTarGet.com only for branding purpose and stopped posting articles very frequently. If you have seen past few months my article count was less before. Later I started one more blog called All India Roundup, however I knew that its gonna take some time for this blog to perform well. So, even All India Roundup was not generating any income. To grow a company exponentially we need products that last for long run. For this reason I didn’t wanted to take any shortcut by building too many links(Black Hat Techniques) which might give results instantly but the blog will be dead after a month or two. I didn’t want that to happen.

Why was All MsnTarGet.com Penalized?

During my initial days of blogging, I was not much aware of SEO. I was learning SEO step by step. In this process I came to knew that a blog with good number of links does well with Search Engine Rankings. Then I started working vigorously on link building. For god sake my link building worked. My blog was doing extremely well with almost all the keywords. I was overwhelmed and didn’t stop the link building over there. I went for few more. I also ordered a lot of gigs on Fiverr and SEOclerks which gives EDU and GOV backlinks which are considered as most powerful backlinks in the past.

After that I have stopped link building as I was already doing pretty well with several thousands of backlinks. My blog did well for few days but slowly the ranking got down day by day. That was not all of a sudden, so I was not able to notice whether that’s a penalty or due to less frequency of posting. But it was actually a penalty that has been triggered on my blog i.e Penguin.

I had one more hit along with the penguin i.e my blog was deleted by blogger and I made a shift to wordpress. During the migration process I lost many articles resulting in lot of 404 and broken links.

How did I Boost My Ranking?

Most of the people might think that my blog rankings is due to my content but that’s not the case. I do implement some advanced SEO strategies to keep up my blog with the competition.

Links are good but too many of them is Bad:

Backlinks were the reason why my blog ranked well. At the same time, the same backlinks lead to penalty. If you have links its good but too many links is bad these days. Its not about how many links you have but the quality of links are the key. You can get some links from whatever place you want and boost your rankings but the results you get by those random links is short lived.

Link Removal Process:

I decided to remove all the links that are bad or that looked suspicious for me. For this purpose I downloaded the complete list of backlinks from ahrefs and disavowed them using the Disavow tool.

I also used a tool called openlinkprofiler which helps you in finding bad links to your site using the LIS(Link Influence Score).

I disavowed almost 20,000 backlinks. That was a big risk but I decided to go for it.

Once I disavowed the links the results were not instant. I had to wait for few weeks to notice the results. To be on safer side I tweaked the site a little more.

Reduced the number of Ads Above the Fold:

As we all know there is a page layout algorithm which hates sites that have too many ads on top. I decided to go ad free and display ads only the articles that get majority of traffic from search.

If you see my homepage there are no ads. As my majority of revenue comes from sponsored adverts, I decided to go ad free on majority of the articles.

Fix Broken Links:

As you all know my blog was deleted by Blogger which results in lot of 404 errors. I used a plugin for wordpress called Broken Link Checker, this automatically detects the broken links and makes it easy for us to fix them right away.

Redirecting 404 Pages:

As I said my blog was deleted by blogger, so I was left with a lot of 404 errors. To fix this I used two more plugins called Smart 404 and Redirection. Smart 404 is one of my favourite plugins which automatically redirects to relevant pages whenever it comes across a 404 page.

Updating all the Old Articles:

Few of my old articles were outdated. Decided to update all of them. Updated all the old articles one by one with the help of my editorial team.

After I have made all the changes I waited for about 10 days and was hoping that things might work. Eventually the strategies which I implemented worked out for me. My rankings boosted back in Google. The main reason for the blog getting a hit was the Penguin due to bad backlinks. However, currently we are no more working on link building instead putting more efforts on Content Marketing.

These days we also noticed a lot of negative SEO on popular sites that are doing well with Search Rankings, all you have to do is just disavow those links and everything would be fine. Let me know your thoughts on the same in your comments.

There is only one h1 tag on the page – This is usually the same as the <title> of the post, although it doesn’t have to be the same.

5. Keep your paragraphs short

Don’t just through large paragraphs on a page and hit the publish the button.

There is a good possibility that the majority of your readers are on mobile so make it easy for them to read the content.

6. Add links when it makes sense

Whenever you write a new piece, try to ‘associate it’ with already published blog posts on your blog, by adding internal links.

. Do make use of keywords (but not keyword stuffing)

Having your target keywords (and variations) in your blog posts will not get you into trouble, in fact it is recommended to do so.

As I mentioned in the beginning of this post, what is not recommended is keyword stuffing.

8. Optimize the length of your blog post

Studies have shown that longer posts perform better in search and they tend to receive more likes and mentions in social media.

While this is true, it does not mean that shorter posts will not rank well. What is more important is the quality of the content and not the quantity.

You should understand that when writing a blog post for a particular topic, you are in essence competing with hundreds of other posts that are already published about the same topic.

9. Optimize your meta description

In point 3 above, I have talked about optimizing the Title and URL of a post; it is equally important to optimize your meta description.

The description tag is a summary of the post in less than 156 characters. Google may choose to show your description in the results so it has to be informative and interesting to encourage users to click your link and visit your blog.

10. Optimize your images and other media elements

Images, graphs, infographics, videos, statistics and other media elements, make a blog post more interesting to read and enhance the quality of the content.

Although Google has made it clear that they cannot yet understand the context of an image or video (while crawling a page), yet many webmasters fail to follow the rules of making their images SEO optimized.

In most of the blogs we have seen that many paragraphs are there and every paragraph state the similar thing, you should avoid these only use paragraphs that state something new. It means every paragraph should state something new. There should be a reason for making new paragraph. You should analyze what is the main idea of each paragraph. You should be able to grasp the idea in single sentence.

Make use of headings

Heading is the most important part because they are important for readability but at the same time SEO. Heading helps any search engine to grasp the long content and thus increase your ranking. Make sure that the keywords which I have described in the start should be the part of subheading.

Signal words help to grasp the idea of nay article in a quick shot. No can get the main idea by the word itself. Signal words should be promising so that user can get involved in the article.

Knowledge gathering

Let other people read your post before publishing. Discuss about the post and work based on the feedback received.

Length of the article should be compact

Your article should be qualitative not quantitative, it means article should not be too long It might get scare users. And use the search term 3 to 6 times in your article.

how to set up a custom domain for his blog. Like my friend, many new blogger often search this. Ok, let’s discuss some points before moving ahead. Blogger provides two publishing options like hosting your blog on Blogspot.com and on your custom domain. You can change your publishing option at any time. Now I am going to show you simple steps. Before you do this, you will need to register a domain name. If you already have a domain name, then ignore it.

Set up a Custom Domain on Blogger

1 Go to Blogger and Log in to your Account.

2 Go to your blog's Settings and choose Basic tab.

3 Click on Add custom domain you will find it Under the Publishing.

4Advanced settings option appear there, type your new domain name. The domain name must begin with www. See the below image.

5 Now Click on the Save Button. Then you will get an error message “We have not been able to verify your authority to this domain. Error 12.”

6 At the beginning of the error message you will see DNS setting instructions similar to the image below. These codes are for my blog, your codes will be different.

7 Now you have to change DNS settings. Go to your Domain Name Registrar’s (In my case it is Godaddy) and log in. Go to your Account and choose your domain name.

8 Navigate to the DNS Zone File click Edit.

9 Add a CNAME. For Name/Label/Host field, enter www and For Destination/Target/Points To field, enter ghs.google.com like in the below image.

10 Add another CNAME. For Name/Label/Host field and For Destination/Target/Points To field, enter the codes like in the below image. (Use your own codes generated in step 6)

11 Now you have to add A-records. If you already have any “A-records”, modify them. If not, click “Add” button. You have to add 4 separate “A-records”, pointing to the following Google IP addresses.

216.239.34.21

216.239.36.21

216.239.38.21

12 Click on the Save button and wait for a few minutes to update DNS settings.

13 If you have closed your blogger page, then go to your Blog go to Settings > Basic > Publishing and again enter your custom domain name. Don’t forget to click Redirect option.

14 Now click the Save button. If it again displays the error message, wait for a few hours and check again.
