Jio Gigafiber broadband services were announced a couple of months back in India and after testing its FTTH services in the country for over two years now, Reliance Jio is all set to compete with the likes of Airtel V-fiber and BSNL broadband in the fiber-to-the-home industry. Just like its debut in the telecom sector, Reliance Jio is expected to completely disrupt the broadband segment as well with its affordable pricing and cheap cost of data.

In recent time, we have seen a huge increase in consumption of online video content and according to some reports, mobile video content expected to grow at 83 per cent CAGR over the next 5 years, it might be the right time for Jio GigaFiber services to debut with its affordable prices. On the other hand, it is worth noting that Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is currently the biggest broadband service provider in India while Airtel V-fiber has also been introduced by Bharti Airtel in the country.

Now, with Jio GigaFiber FTTH broadband services, the face of this industry is expected to change entirely and here we compare the prices or plans of Jio GigaFiber, Airtel V-fiber and BSNL Broadband, and see how Reliance Jio is planning to bring another revolution with its debut in the broadband industry.

BSNL Broadband

BSNL has over 9.30 million users for its broadband services and offers up to 100Mbps speeds with 750GB of monthly data after which the speed is reduced to 2 Mbps. While this BSNL broadband plan is priced at Rs. 1,277 per month, there is also an Rs. 777 monthly plan from BSNL which comes with 500GB data at 50Mbps as well.

There are no activation or installation charges, however, you will have to pay a one-time security fee as well as ADSL WiFi Modem charges to get a BSNL broadband connection.

Airtel V-fiber

Airtel V-fiber or Airtel Broadband is the second largest player in the industry and operates on major Indian cities such as Delhi/NCR, Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Pune and Indore, for now. Unlike BSNL, the availability of Airtel ‘V-Fiber’ is limited to these cities while the deployment was part of the company’s network transformation programme named ‘Project Leap’.

Coming to the plans or prices of Airtel Broadband, there is an Airtel Rs 799 broadband plan which comes with 100GB of monthly data with up to 40Mbps of speeds as well as unlimited voice call benefits. There are also the Rs. 1,299 and Rs. 1,999 (Gurugram circle) plans which come with 500GB data at 100Mbps and unlimited data at 100Mbps speeds, respectively. Subscribers will also get a free router and Amazon prime subscription while Airtel V-fiber can be connected to a maximum of 10 devices.

Jio GigaFiber FTTH broadband

While the Jio GigaFiber FTTH broadband services were announced months back, there is no official word on its availability to the masses, however, Reliance Jio has partnered with Hathway and Den Networks for last mile connectivity and the Jio GigaFiber services are expected to launch soon in India.

That said, there is no official word on the official plan details as well, however, Reliance Jio has announced the Jio GigaFiber Preview Offer under which all new subscribers will get 100GB monthly data for the first three months at 100Mbps of speeds and once the monthly limit is exhausted, users will be able to avail additional data with a recharge from Jio.com. It has also been announced that for a new Jio GigaFiber connection, users will have to pay a refundable security deposit of Rs. 4,500 for the Jio GigaFiber router and the JioTV router.

As for Jio GigaFiber plans and prices, reports have suggested that Reliance Jio will launch its broadband plans starting from as low as Rs. 500.

So, Which Yearly Plan Should You Go For?

Definitely, BSNL has a better set of offerings compared to Reliance Jio. The plans have no limitations, so both the BSNL annual plans are truly unlimited in nature. But, do remember the BSNL offers 3G speeds compared to the 4G on Jio.

If you are someone who is okay with the 3G speeds, do definitely go for the new BSNL yearly plans.

Jio had started a new spree of yearly plans in the industry. The Jio Rs 1,699 yearly plan has pushed BSNL to launch its own upgraded yearly plans. Soon we will see  Airtel, Vodafone and Idea joining the trend with their own yearly prepaid plans.

For now, it seems like BSNL is rocking it up to take on Reliance Jio. The public company has performed exceptionally well in the last two quarters, and once it acquires the 4G airwaves, we hope to see a turnaround in the Indian telecom industry.

Which plan will you choose now? Do let us know, by commenting right here!

There’s a constant battle being fought in the Indian telecom sector. Private telecom operators like Airtel, Vodafone, Reliance Jio and Idea are striving hard to gain – and retain – customers by offering more 3G or 4G mobile data for lesser money. Initially, these operators started by offering 1GB of 3G/4G mobile data per day. Now, stiff price and data competition have forced operators to increase their daily data limits to 2GB for the same price. Airtel, Reliance Jio and Vodafone have now increased their daily data limits to 3GB. Also, Vodafone and Reliance Jio have unlimited data plans with 4GB per day limit or more. Here are the top eight unlimited prepaid plans from Reliance Jio, Airtel, Vodafone and Idea offering 3GB or more daily data limit:
Top 8 Unlimited 3GB or more daily data plans from Reliance Jio, Airtel, Vodafone, Idea
1. Reliance Jio Rs 299 unlimited plan: 3GB data/day, 28 days validity, free calls : Reliance Jio has got the most affordable prepaid plan offering 3GB daily data for a period of 28 days. 4. Idea Rs 349 unlimited plan: 3GB data/day, 28 days validity : To compete with Jio, Airtel and Vodafone, Idea has also recently updated its Rs 357 unlimited data to offer 3GB 4G data per day for Rs 349. However, there is a cap on daily calling with a limit of 250 minutes and weekly free call limit of 1000 minutes. Also, if a subscriber makes calls to more than 100 unique numbers in a week then Idea will charge 1 paisa per second for each call made after the 100th unique number.

Airtel is concentrating on grabbing more users by launching new entry-level plans and the latest one to join the list is Rs 195 prepaid plan. Bharti Airtel has launched a new prepaid plan of Rs 195 taking the battle to Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea Limited. This new entry-level plan offers a total of 35GB data and unlimited voice calls, but Airtel users will miss out on SMS benefits. With this plan, Airtel takes on other plans of Rs 198 from Reliance Jio and Rs 199 plans from Vodafone Idea, but we don’t know the exact reason of why this plan exists as it offers limited benefits than the Rs 199 prepaid recharge from Airtel. Nevertheless, Airtel must be looking to create a new tariff portfolio with 1.25GB daily data benefit.

In the Chennai circle, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has made revisions to its Fiber to the Home (FTTH) broadband plans meaning that now FTTH customers in Chennai who have subscribed to the below mentioned FTTH plans would be able to enjoy more FUP and faster speeds. The BSNL FTTH plans which have undergone revision include the Rs 999, Rs 1,299, Rs 1,699, Rs 1,999, Rs 2,999 and Rs 4,999 plans. Airtel Rs 195 Prepaid Recharge: Benefits and Validity

Unlike other combo recharge plans of Bharti Airtel, the newly introduced prepaid plan gives voice calling and data benefits only. Firstly, the plan offers unlimited local, STD and roaming voice calls without any FUP limit. Second, it provides a user 1.25GB of data per day, which becomes a total of 35GB data during the validity period of 28 days. As mentioned above, the new recharge plan from Airtel is not offering any SMS benefits, which might be a letdown for users who rely on text messages for communications.

Airtel Rs 195 Prepaid Plan is Limited to Few Circles at the Moment

Right now, the Rs 195 prepaid recharge plan of Airtel is available only in select circles such as Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Kerala and a few. Also, the plan can be availed only via the company’s website and it’s yet to be made available for recharge through My Airtel application. We have checked the plan’s availability in Karnataka and Delhi circles, but there’s no luck. Let us know by commenting below whether Airtel launched this plan in your circle or not.

Airtel Rs 195 Prepaid Recharge vs Airtel Rs 168 Recharge

Very recently, Bharti Airtel launched  a segmented tariff plan of Rs 168 which gives a user unlimited voice calls without any FUP limit, 100 SMS per day and 1GB data per day for 28 days. The newly launched Rs 195 prepaid plan comes with slightly better 1.25GB data benefit per day and unlimited voice calls but lacks free text messages benefit though. So if you send text messages more often, then you should get yourself the Rs 168 recharge, but again, it’s a segmented prepaid plan valid only for select users. Otherwise, you can choose the open market plan of Rs 199 which brings along 1.4GB daily data, unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day for 28 days. In the meantime, Airtel also launched a new Rs 159 prepaid plan with benefits for 21 days, and 1GB of 4G data, unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day.

In other news, the newly formed Vodafone Idea Limited has removed the basic talk time recharges of Rs 20, Rs 30, Rs 50 and so on, and introduced Active Recharges which offers talk time, rate cutter and data benefits for a minimum validity of 28 days. Airtel might counter the move by launching a similar set of plans in the coming weeks.
