Jio Effect: Vodafone Launches 1GB/Per Day Plan For Rs 244; BSNL’s 4G To Be Launched By March, 2018After Reliance Jio announced brand new combo plans earlier this week, other telecom operators have started plotting and devising newer plans, to counter attack the onslaught. On the other hand, reports are coming in regarding the launch of much awaited BSNL’s 4G network in India.
First among them is Vodafone, which has launched one of the cheapest combo plans till date, from private telecom operators. But, there is a catch here.
Vodafone New Users: Get 1 GB/Day For Rs 244
In order to counter Jio’s new combo plans, Vodafone has launched 1 GB/day plan for Rs 244.

However, there are two restrictions, which somewhat limits its benefits:

  1. This plan is only for new users, who are selecting Vodafone
  2. Only Vodafone to Vodafone unlimited calls are included in this plan

Vodafone Rs. 244 Plan
Rs 244 for 70 days with 1 GB/day and Vodafone-to-Vodafone free calls are only valid for the first recharge, for new users. Second recharge onwards, the validity will decrease to 35 days, with the same benefits.

Vodafone Rs. 346 Plan
Another plan costing Rs 346 has been launched, which gives free calls to any network for 56 days, along with 1 GB per day data for the same period. Again, there is a catch here: the unlimited voice calls are limited to 300 minutes per day and 1200 minutes per week.

Airtel may also launch new combo plans, in order to counter Jio. Details are awaited.

BSNL: 4G Network To Be Launched By March 2018
The much awaited 4G launch by BSNL is now closer to reality.
BSNL Telangana Circle Chief General Manager L Anantharam revealed last week that BSNL will launch 4G network in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana by March 2018.
As per the statements issued, around 1150 4G sites have been installed in both of these states for the launch. Overall, BSNL will install 10,000 4G sites across India for pan-India 4G launch.

As per BSNL General Manager P Sudhakara Rao: “For the 4G project, tendering process has been completed and we have to receive guidelines from BSNL headquarters. The vendor has also been finalised. For BSNL 4G project, 10,000 4G sites have been planned pan India while for Telangana we are getting 550 sites and 600 in Andhra Pradesh…hopefully before this financial year end we will launch 4G services in both the states,”

Under their BSNL 4G Plus scheme, around 63 locations would be empowered with 4G based WiFi services in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana; which would be launched by August 2017.

Reliance Jio , Airtel, Vodafone, Idea Cellular and BSNL 4G Data offers compare
Reliance Jio has just launched its new plans where it has updated its Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer. This comes as a breather for incumbents like Airtel, Vodafone, Idea Cellular and BSNL. Here is a comparison of 4G data packs.

Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan Offer Benefits Continue With New Pack: 84GB Data for 84 Days at Rs. 399

Reliance Jio plans, including one that extends the Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer benefits, have been launched by the telecom operator as its Jio Summer Surprise offer comes to a close. The new Rs. 399 Jio plan provides users with 1GB data per day for 84 days, the same benefit that Jio Prime members were getting with the Rs. 303 pack under the Jio Summer Surprise plan, and at Rs. 309 with the Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan Offer.
The launch of the new Jio plans is accompanied by a revision in the validities and data caps of existing prepaid packs and postpaid plans. This is the first revision of Jio plans since April, when the company phased out the Rs. 303 and Rs. 499 packs in favour of the Rs. 309 and Rs. 509 packs.
Airtel
After the announcement of its commercial launch by Reliance Jio in March this year, Airtel came up with data-heavy plans to attract customers. In March, it firstly launched the Rs. 345 plan for prepaid users with 28GB of high-speed data for 28 days. While the daily FUP was set at 1GB per day, customers were able to use only 500MB of data during the day, while the remaining 500MB was allotted for the 12am to 6am period.

Vodafone
Soon after Reliance Jio and Airtel started the tariff war, Vodafone joined in. It launched the Rs. 352 recharge pack that offered 1GB data per day for 56 days, or two recharge cycles of 28 days. Known as the Vodafone Super Offer pack, it additionally provided unlimited local and STD calls for the same validity period.

Idea Cellular
Idea Cellular also entered the data tariff war, and in March launched the Rs. 297 recharge pack that provided 1GB data per day for 70 days on a 4G SIM and 4G smartphone. The offer came with 300 minutes of free calls per day and 1,200 minutes per week to other Idea customers, after which 30p per minute was charged. It then came up with a Rs. 447 prepaid pack that gave 1GB data per day and unbilled calls to any network for 70 days. The bundled calls with this Idea pack to other networks were capped at 3,000 minutes for the 70-day period. Users were charged 30p per minute on exhausting bundled calls to other networks. The cap for un-billed Idea-to-Idea calls were the same as those of the Rs. 297 pack.

BSNL
State-owned telco BSNL is not aloof from the ongoing battle amongst the industry players either. It launched the BSNL Rs. 333 Triple Ace plan in April that offered 3GB data per day for up to 90 days. However, since BSNL is yet to launch its 4G services, the data consumers would get will be 3G and 2G data, depending on the circle. Another plan worth Rs. 339 with validity of 28 days was launched in March, which came with 25 minutes of free calls to other networks per day. Beyond the free 25 minutes, customers were to be charged at 25p per minute for long phone calls. The offer was limited for 90 days.

Vodafone
Vodafone had recently announced a new tariff plan called SuperNight, and it is offering unlimited 3G/4G data for usage and download for five hours. The new plan is available only to Vodafone pre-paid customers and is priced at Rs 29. The Vodafone SuperNight plan is applicable between 1 am and 6 am. The unlimited data offer on SuperNight can be best used to browse and download a range of content from Vodafone Play too. The SuperNight packs can be purchased via digital channels as well as all retail touch points. The customers can also dial *444*4# to activate the pack. Vodafone has reportedly been investing significantly in building Vodafone SuperNetTM, its internet network, offering HD Voice quality across its entire network and super mobile broadband experience across the country.

Reliance Jio prepaid plans
The Rs. 309 and Rs. 509 prepaid Jio plans still remain, while two other plans have been added into the mix. The Rs. 309 plan offers all the same benefits of unlimited data (1GB per day), voice and SMS calling benefits, but with 56 days of validity instead of 28 days. The Rs. 509 plan also remains the same but with 56 days of validity (against 28 days earlier) and daily 4G data usage cap at 2GB per day. The Rs. 349 and Rs. 399 packs are part of the company's new Every Day More Value (EDMV) plans, under which it promises to deliver "20 percent more value than competitors' best plans."
New plans include the Rs. 349 plan that gives you 20GB of 4G data for 56 days with no cap on consumption, and when the data is exhausted the Internet speed will reduce to 128kbps. The Rs. 399 plan is similar to the Rs. 309 plan in terms of daily data allowance, but bumps up validity to 84 days. That’s because the customer care confirmed that Reliance Jio is still offering the Dhan Dhana Dhan promotion, but only on Rs. 399 plan with 84-day validity.
Apart from these changes, all the other plans remain the same with first recharge benefits provided with Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan Offer now gone from the mix. The starting prepaid plan is as low as Rs. 19 which gives you only one-day validity, 200MB of 4G data, and unlimited SMS and voice calling facilities. The Rs. 49 plan gives you a 3-day validity and 600MB of 4G data with similar voice and SMS calling benefits. There’s also a Rs. 96 plan which gives you a 7-day validity with unlimited data of up to 1GB per day, after which you can use the Internet at 128kbps speeds.
The Rs. 149 plan gives you 28 days of validity but offers only 2GB of 4G data for usage, and 300 free SMSes. The Rs. 999 plan gives you a 90-day validity, 90GB of 4G data, on completion of which you Internet speed will reduce to 128kbps. The Rs. 1,999 plan offers a 120-day validity, 155GB of data, and after you drain this data, you Internet speed will be at 128kbps. The Rs. 4,999 and Rs. 9,999 plans will offer 210 and 390 days of validity respectively, with 380GB and 780GB of data benefit respectively. Once you exhaust this data, your Internet speed will then be at 128kbps only. All voice calls in all the plans are free.
BSNL Postpaid
BSNL has also added some additional data offer for its post-paid users. Users who avail the Rs 99 plan will be provided with 250MB of data. Earlier there were no added benefits. BSNL postpaid subscribers who purchase the Rs 225 plan will be provided with 1GB data, while earlier it was 200MB. Under the Rs 325 plan, users will get 2GB of data, while before this it was compared to just 250MB data. Subscribers enrolled under Rs 525 plan and Rs 725 plan will now be provided with 3GB, (before this it was 500MB) and 5GB data (originally 1GB).

Relaince Jio postpaid plans
Postpaid plans are available at Rs. 309, Rs. 349, Rs. 399, Rs. 509, and Rs. 999 denominations with validity lasting up to three months and different benefits offered in different plans. The new plans introduced are at Rs. 349 and Rs. 399 which offer two months and three months of validity. The Rs. 349 plan offers 20GB of 4G data after which the speed drops to 128kbps. The Rs. 399 plan offers unlimited 4G data with the 1GB per day cap and other unlimited voice and SMS benefits. All the new prepaid and postpaid plans are now available on the Jio website, where you can see them detailed.

Jio Effect: BSNL Revises Postpaid Plans, Offers increased eight times More Data

BSNL or Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has revised some of its postpaid plans to add multifold data benefits. The data offers can be availed on postpaid plans starting at as little as Rs. 99. BSNL's latest revision of data tariffs comes amid excessive competition in the Indian telecom market due to aggressive pricing by new entrant Reliance Jio, say some analysts. In some of BSNL's revised plans, the quantum of data has been increased eight times compared to previous offerings.

Here are 10 things to know on BSNL's new plans to counter Jio:

1. BSNL's new offers are applicable from July 1, 2017.

2. Existing postpaid customers will get benefits of the revised plans, BSNL has said.

3. Plan-99: BSNL has introduced 250 MB of data with this plan, which comes at a monthly rental of R
s.
 99. Earlier, the telecom operator's this postpaid offering came without data. All other benefits under the plan remain unchanged.

4. Plan-225: This R
s.
225 per month plan will now come with 1,000 MB of high speed data compared with 200 MB earlier - a five-fold increase. Along with data, subscribers of this plan also get free calls worth R
s.
 180.

5. Plan-325: At a monthly rental of R
s.
325, this plan will now come with 2,000 MB of high speed data. This marks an eight times surge in the amount of data offered under the postpaid plan by BSNL.

6. Plan 525: At a monthly rental of R
s.
525, BSNL's this portpaid plan will now include 3,000 MB of data - a six-fold raise compared with the 500 MB earlier.

7. Plan 725: This plan now offers 5,000 MB of data compared with 1GB earlier. Called "Plan 725", this postpaid plan comes at a monthly rental of R
s.
 725.

8. BSNL has kept its data offering unchanged in some of its other postpaid plans. These include Plan 149, Plan 799, Plan 1,125 and Plan 1,525.

9. Ever since Reliance Jio has stirred data tariffs in India's telecom sector, many incumbent telecom players have rapidly revised their postpaid and prepaid offerings in a bid to not lose out on their market shares, some analysts said.

10. BSNL had last month introduced new special tariff vouchers (STVs) for its prepaid customers. BSNL launched a plan with 120GB of data and unlimited calls at R
s.
 666. This BSNL recharge pack, called "Sixer 666" and priced at R
s.
666, comes with a validity of 60 days.

Meanwhile, Reliance Jio Infocomm, which offers telecom services under brand Jio, once again emerged as the fastest 4G mobile service provider with an average download speed of 18.8 megabit per second (mbps) in June, data from regulator TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) showed. However, TRAI's broadband speed chart showed the average download speed on Jio network slightly dipped from 19.12 mbps recorded in May, but it continued to maintain a lead over others as the fastest 4G mobile service provider for the last seven months.

The latest offers and product revisions from BSNL come amid an intense price war between telecom companies triggered by aggressive high-speed data pricing by new entrant Reliance Jio, say some analysts.
