Huawei P20 Event Invite Hints Triple Camera Presence on the Flagship Smartphone
Huawei today confirmed that its next-gen flagship smartphones, the Huawei P20 and P20 Plus will be launched on March 27. The Chinese company sent out media invites for an event to be held in Paris, and the invite clearly hints that the phones will arrive with triple cameras on board. Yes, you heard it right. Huawei will be integrating three cameras at the back of the phone, and as per the rumours, the cameras will be aligned vertically, like the recently launched Mate 10 series. As you can see in the image, there are three circles everywhere like in the background and even in the ‘MOOORE’ word. Also, the invite says the P20 and P20 Plus will have Artificial Intelligence features like the Mate 10 series.
It would be interesting to see how this triple camera setup works with AI. Rumours say that Huawei is working closely with Leica to develop this camera module. It is also said that there will be a 40MP sensor with 5x hybrid zoom, which is way ahead of current generation smartphone cameras present on smartphones such as the iPhone X and OnePlus 5. To be noted, the P20 and P20 Plus will be first smartphones ever to sport three cameras at the back.
Just a couple of days ago, Huawei’s P20 Lite smartphone was certified by FCC, and guess what, it has a notch at the top like the iPhone X. The notch is expected to house the selfie camera and earpiece along with other hardware. But both the P20 and P20 Plus are yet to be certified by FCC. Speaking about the Huawei P20 Lite, it’s expected to have a display with 19:0 aspect ratio with a resolution of 2280 x 1,080 pixels.
And the display size could be anywhere from 5.8-inch to 6-inch. But the P20 Lite will have dual camera setup at the back, unlike the rumoured triple camera setup. In related news, Huawei has confirmed its presence at the MWC 2018, but it’s unknown what the company will be launching at the mega tech show.
Huawei is one of the first brands to employ dual camera setup on smartphones, which paved the way for the revolution in the smartphone industry. And the triple camera setup is something unique. Will Huawei start any revolution again? Let’s wait and see until March 27.

Huawei P20 Tipped to Come With 40-Megapixel Triple Camera Setup, iPhone X Like Notch
Huawei will be launching its latest lineup of smartphones next month and at least one of the models will come with three rear cameras. The Shenzen-based manufacturer will announce the successor to the P10 flagship smartphones, which is expected to be named Huawei P20, next month. Meanwhile, smartphone case makers in China have leaked images of cases allegedly made for the Huawei P20, showcasing a triple camera setup as well as an iPhone X-like notch in the front.
Huawei was expected launch its new smartphones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) to be held at the end of this month. However, the company has reportedly sent press invites for a launch event that will take place in Paris on March 27. Reports have suggested that Huawei has been working on three new smartphones - the Huawei P20, Huawei P20 Lite, and Huawei P20 Plus - and might launch them at the event. Meanwhile, leaked images of cases of one of these smartphones, posted by SlashLeaks, suggest a vertically arranged triple rear camera setup. The leaks revealing details about the camera is in line with some of the earlier reports.
Famous tipster Evan Blass, in December 2017, had said that the next Huawei P-series is going to be an "imaging powerhouse." In his leaks, Blass claimed that the camera might feature a 40-megapixel camera with 3 rear lenses and 5x hybrid zoom. He had also added that there will be a 24-megapixel selfie camera packed in the handset. All the lens are expected to be co-developed with German camera manufacturer Leica. The next smartphone in the Huawei P-series is also rumoured to ship with the 'Point Cloud Depth Camera' which is similar to Apple's 'TrueDepth Camera' used in the face ID feature. Huawei had first revealed the details of its upcoming Face ID rival at the launch of the Mate 10 in 2017.
Thanks to this technology, the Huawei P20 may come with a notch at the top bezel similar to the iPhone X. Meanwhile, one of the leaked images also shows off the iPhone X-like design. However, this design may also be limited to the premium variant as one of the leaked images show a case without the notch. Additionally, the other reports have indicated that the Huawei P20 family may ship with the Kirin 970 AI-powered processor and run Android Oreo. It should be noted that as Huawei has not announced the smartphones officially, we should take these speculations with a pinch of salt, and wait for the event scheduled for next month.

Huawei P20 Expected to Launch on March 27
Huawei is all set to launch a series of smartphones next month. The Shenzen-based manufacturer will announce smartphones in its new flagship series, Huawei P20, in March 2018. The company has reportedly sent press invites for an event that will take place in Paris on March 27. Huawei was expected to launch new handsets at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 in Barcelona, but it now appears that it will host a separate event to unveil its new series. As per GSMArena, Huawei's new smartphone could either be called P11 or P20.
Another report by Android Central points to the P20 name via Huawei trademark filings. Also, famous tipster Roland Quandt had previously revealed that Huawei is working on a three new smartphones: the Huawei P20, Huawei P20 Lite, and Huawei P20 Plus. Earlier in December 2017, a report had suggested that Huawei is planning to launch three new smartphones as part of its 2018 roadmap.
At a press conference in Israel, held by Electra Consumer Products (an importer of Huawei phones), plans for the Huawei P20 series were claimed to have been revealed. Interestingly, the report also mentioned that two other smartphones, with codenames Maya and Salina, will be launched by Huawei in the first quarter of 2018. Huawei's P-series is known to bring in new camera features, and we can expect the same this year.
The company had launched the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus at MWC 2017. A jump from the P10 to P20, instead of P11 could mean a massive upgrade over the last year's handsets. Reports have indicated that the Huawei P20 family may ship with the Kirin 970 AI-powered processor and run Android Oreo. It could also feature a full-screen design and three rear cameras.
Another tipster, Evan Blass, in December last year posted a picture on Twitter, saying, "Is the next Huawei P-series going to be an imaging powerhouse? A digital artist at one of the company's creative agencies added these 'PCE Series' ads to their portfolio - claiming 40MP, 3 lens rear (5x hybrid zoom) + 24MP selfie, all Leica-co-developed." Notably, Huawei is said to be planning to expand its smartphone range into the United States by next year. Huawei's upcoming flagship smartphones could now be a part of its offerings in the country.
