For instance, OnePlus 6 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant can currently be bought for the price of 6GB RAM and 64GB storage model. We have compiled a list of five smartphones in the Rs 30,000 to Rs 45,000 price segment that can be a good buy this Diwali:

Best smartphones under Rs 45,000 for Diwali 2018: OnePlus 6, Huawei Nova 3 to Vivo Nex

Best smartphones under Rs 45,000 for Diwali 2018: OnePlus 6, Huawei Nova 3 to Vivo Nex
Best smartphones under Rs 45,000 for Diwali 2018: OnePlus 6, Huawei Nova 3 to Vivo Nex

OnePlus 6/OnePlus 6T

OnePlus 6 is one of the best mid-range Android flagships thanks to a top-notch performance, good cameras and stylish design. In our review, we said OnePlus 6 is a no nonsense device, which does everything well and has not wasted time figuring out gimmicks. OnePlus 6 price in India starts at Rs 34,999 for 6GB RAM and 64GB storage option. The 8GB RAM+128GB ROM model was launched at a price of Rs 39,999, though it can currently be bought for Rs 34,999 under Amazon’s Diwali sale offer.

Those willing to wait can go for OnePlus 6T, which will make it debut in India on October 30. In terms of upgrade, the phone will get a newer in-display fingerprint sensor or Screen Unlock feature as well as a bigger 37,000mAh battery. It will sport a dewdrop notch design, compared to a rectangular notch on OnePlus 6. However, it will lack a 3.5mm headset jack. Price details are not known at this point but it can be pre-booked through Amazon by paying Rs 2,000.

Huawei Nova 3

Huawei Nova 3 is a good package to consider at Rs 35,000 and the phone is available in only 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model. When one looks at the overall performance, competes closely with OnePlus 6, though on the camera front, the latter has an edge. The design stands out the most on Nova 3, especially the twilight colour that looks quite stylish. The phone has a great build quality and performance. Nova 3 has a total of four cameras – two on the front and two at the back.

Vivo Nex

Vivo Nex has a pop up, motorised selfie camera, which is the USP of the device. It will cost Rs 44,990 for 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. The phone features a 6.59-inches full display with no notch, glass body design and in-display fingerprint scanner. People looking for a clean display (without notch) and a cool motorised camera can consider Vivo Nex. It ticks all the right boxes, though size was an issue for us. In our review, we observed, the camera’s over-saturation of colours is a problem.

LG G7+ ThinQ

LG G7+ ThinQ was launched at a price of Rs 39,990 for 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage option. The phone is among few on the market offering 2k resolution for under Rs 40,000. We liked the overall light design and compact feel of G7+ ThinQ. The performance is pretty smooth, thanks to Snapdragon 845 processor and the camera is also nice. The water and dust-resistant is also a plus. The downside would be the battery, which only lasted for 8-10 hours with minimal to moderate usage during our review period. The overall package makes it a good choice for under Rs 40,000.

Asus Zenfone 5Z

Asus Zenfone 5Z, the first Android smartphone with Apple iPhone X-like notch, is priced starting at Rs 29,999 for 6GB RAM and 64GB storage model. The 128GB storage option is priced at Rs 32,999. The higher-end 8GB RAM and 256GB storage option costs Rs 36,999. The performance on Zenfone 5Z is great and it uses the same processor as the OnePlus 6. We also liked the premium design. However, the fingerprint scanner and camera needs improvement.

It all started with iPhone X last year, and now it's become a trend among the smartphone makers to put a notch on top of the display. Wireless Reverse Charging of Huawei Mate 20 Pro: How This Works?

This is based on the Qi charging standard, created by the Wireless Power Consortium.

This is indeed not a big deal – Around 140 smartphones, tablets from leading brands like Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, OnePlus etc are part of this ‘Consortium’, and use Qi charging standard to wirelessly charge the devices.

However, the big deal is that, Huawei Mate 20 Pro can charge other smartphones as well.

Thus, this can charge other Mate 20 Pro smartphones, as well as other smartphones which support Qi charging standard such as iPhone XS.

Basically, it is electromagnetic induction, as taught in your Physics class in school: Electromotive force is produced, across an electrical conductor in a changing magnetic field.

Now, Huawei has implemented the same theory to their Mate 20 Pro, and in real life, the charging mat becomes the transmitter, and the setup on your phone becomes the receiver.

The magic here is, somehow Huawei has been able to make the Mate 20 Pro both a transmitter and receiver – Using various miniaturizations, it can receive the electromagnetic energy from the charging mat, and also becomes the ‘charging mat’ by transmitting energy back to the other smartphones, hence, charging it wirelessly.

To be frank, Huawei hasn’t revealed how this reverse charging actually works, but we are expecting some interesting reveals in the coming days.

Initial Reactions On Reverse Charging Feature

Few tech journalists were able to use the reverse charging mechanism of Huawei Mate 20 Pro, and experienced the feature first hand.

Although they were impressed with the mechanism, and the technological breakthrough, but the speed of charging was something which bothered them.

Maybe it is too early to say whether this new reverse charging mechanism will work with the critics or not and whether it can become an iPhone killer or not, but one thing is for sure – Huawei has created a new disruption here.

We will keep you updated, as we receive more information on this.

Huawei on Tuesday unveiled the Mate 20 series, phones that are well ahead of any 2018 Android flagship. As leaks have revealed in the past couple of months, the new Mate 20 phones will offer features that won’t be available on other Android flagships for at least five more months. Huawei’s Mate 20 phones have instantly become the best iPhone XS rivals out there, at least on paper, and the high-end model is easily the most beastly Android phone the world has seen so far.

The Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro look just like they did in all the leaks. The regular Mate 20 has a flat screen and a teardrop notch, while the Mate 20 Pro features an iPhone X-like notch (complete with 3D face recognition similar to Face ID) and curved screens like Samsung’s Galaxy S and Note phones. The phones also pack an in-display fingerprint sensor that’s supposedly 10% faster than other sensors, as well as a USB-C port that doubles as a bottom speaker. There’s no 3.5mm headphone jack on either model, and the phones have IP68 (Mate 20 Pro), and IP53 (Mate 20) ratings.

The Mate 20 Pro has a 6.4-inch curved OLED screen with 3120 x 1440 resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 86.90% screen-to-body ratio. Meanwhile, the Mate 20 features a 6.5-inch LCD screen with 2244 x 1080 resolution, 18.7:9 aspect ratio and 88.08% screen-to-body ratio. Huawei insisted on stage that its Mate 20 phones are the best phones out there when it comes to processor and RAM speed, Wi-Fi downloads, GPS accuracy, camera performance, and battery performance.

The phones sport the first 7nm processor among Android devices, the Kirin 980 that was unveiled at IFA earlier this year. Other specs include 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM (Mate 20 Pro), 4GB of 6GB of RAM (Mate 20), 128GB of storage, Cat. 21 LTE support (1.4Gbps), and faster Wi-Fi. The Mate 20 packs a 4,000 mAh battery while the Mate 20 Pro has a 4,200 mAh battery. The Mate 20 Pro supports 40W fast wired charging (up to 70% charge in 30 minutes) while the Mate 20 supports 22W fast wired charging, and both models support 15W fast wireless charging.

Also interesting is the fact that Huawei’s phones are the first in the world that can be used to charge wirelessly accessories like headphones and other smartphones.

Both phones come with a new SIM tray that supports two SIM cards, or a SIM card and Huawei’s new nano-memory storage card that goes up to 256GB.

Both handsets feature triple-lens cameras but the one on the Mate 20 Pro is better. The Mate 20 features 16-megapixel ultra wide angle, 12-megapixel, wide angle, and 8-megapixel telephoto sensors. The Mate 20 Pro, meanwhile, has a 40-megapixel wide angle, 20-megapixel super wide angle, and 8-megapixel telephoto lenses. On the front, there’s a 24-megapixel sensor on the Mate 20 Pro alongside the components that enable 3D Face Unlock, 3D Live Emoji, and 3D object scanning. Just as with the previous model, the Mate 20 phones will offer plenty of AI-enhanced shooting modes, including real-time video editing and special effects.

The Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will both launch with Android 9.0 Pie on board, although you’ll find Huawei’s EMUI 9.0 on top of it. The Mate 20 Pro will start at €1,049 ($1,217) in Europe, which is cheaper than the iPhone XS in the region but on par with Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9. The Mate 20 starts at €799 ($927), and goes up to €849 ($985) if you want more RAM.
