Reliance Jio has completely disrupted the Indian telecommunication industry since its debut around two years back while forcing the likes of Bharti Airtel and Vodafone India to bring down the data as well as tariff costs. This has also given birth to a new segment of prepaid recharge packs often called as combo plans, under which, users get multiple benefits such as data, SMS, unlimited calls and more.

That said, it is worth noting that there is also a long-term validity segment under which Reliance Jio, Airtel and Vodafone are offering around 84 days validity. While this is one of the most popular prepaid recharge segment in India, it usually comes with plans priced near the Rs. 300-mark. On the other hand, for users who are looking for a one-month validity period, the Rs. 200-mark suits them the best and here we take a look at the best prepaid recharge packs under Rs. 200 from Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone India.

In the past few days, the news of Reliance Jio buying a substantial stake in the two most prominent cable companies of India, DEN Networks and Hathway cable have been circling the internet. It is no doubt that this buyout of the companies has positioned Reliance Jio much more advantageously as compared to its closest competitor Bharti Airtel when it comes to Direct to Home (DTH) services. It’s worth noting that after this move, Reliance Jio has gained direct access to 24 million subscribers of these two cable companies combined. Swiss brokerage firm, Credit Suisse also issued a note, which was spotted by ET clarifying that Reliance Jio GigaFiber will indeed be surpassing Bharti Airtel in terms of accessibility of customers after this buyout.

Reliance Jio GigaFiber to Overshadow Bharti Airtel by a Massive Gap in DTH Segment

Reliance Jio GigaFiber to Overshadow Bharti Airtel by a Massive Gap in DTH Segment
Reliance Jio GigaFiber to Overshadow Bharti Airtel by a Massive Gap in DTH Segment

Reliance Jio Races Ahead of Airtel In DTH

Even before the rollout of services in the country, the Mukesh Ambani led telco has gained significant margin over Bharti Airtel in terms of reachability to the consumer. While Bharti Airtel has access to only 2 million homes across the nation, Reliance Jio now boasts of having access to 24 million subscribers owing to its recent buyout of DEN Networks and Hathway Cable. Reliance Jio has also opened registrations for its service since August 15 and has invested a total of Rs 5,230 crore in both of these companies. Although it’s evident that Airtel is not just going to sit back, and the telco has likely plans to strike back in the market, the major lead that Reliance Jio has over Bharti Airtel tells us that we will see many more homes adapt to Reliance Jio’s new GigaFiber service than Bharti Airtel. The challenge, right now, for the telco is to upgrade these subscribers from cable connections, or fixed line connections to FTTH service.

On the other hand, the Sunil Bharti Mittal led telco is not planning to remain mum. The telco plans to add 10 million more subscribers to its existing base by 2021 across 100 cities. In the year 2018 and 2019, Airtel will spend approximately Rs 24,000 crore only for its DTH business to expand operations rapidly.

Reliance Jio Will Have Better Offerings

Given that Reliance Jio is being backed by its massive subscriber base of 250 million Jio 4G customers, the telco is going to have the upper hand when it comes to striking deals with the content broadcasters. Also, Reliance Jio’s portfolio of content distribution applications like Jio Mags, Jio TV, Jio Cinema, Jio Music, Jio NewsPaper and Jio Cloud make it one of the most strong candidates for receiving the attention of content broadcasters. Further, Reliance Jio is likely to take the support of free services in the initial days as it did for Jio 4G to amass subscribers at a fast rate. Looking at all of these factors, Reliance Jio will stand ahead of Bharti Airtel when it is about service integrations and offerings. Further, ET’s report on Kotak Institutional Equities’s statement made it clear that it will be a tough climb for Airtel against Reliance Jio, however, TataSky is expected to have it much worse.

Reliance Jio recently unveiled its new annual plan priced at Rs 1,699 offering a 365 validity. While Airtel and Vodafone are already prepping up to take on Jio’s latest annual plan, BSNL is ready with two plans to take on Jio straight up.

So, Which Yearly Plan Should You Go For?

Definitely, BSNL has a better set of offerings compared to Reliance Jio. The plans have no limitations, so both the BSNL annual plans are truly unlimited in nature. But, do remember the BSNL offers 3G speeds compared to the 4G on Jio.

If you are someone who is okay with the 3G speeds, do definitely go for the new BSNL yearly plans.

Jio had started a new spree of yearly plans in the industry. The Jio Rs 1,699 yearly plan has pushed BSNL to launch its own upgraded yearly plans. Soon we will see  Airtel, Vodafone and Idea joining the trend with their own yearly prepaid plans.

For now, it seems like BSNL is rocking it up to take on Reliance Jio. The public company has performed exceptionally well in the last two quarters, and once it acquires the 4G airwaves, we hope to see a turnaround in the Indian telecom industry.

Which plan will you choose now? Do let us know, by commenting right here!

5 Things to Know About Reliance Big TV’s Free One-Year DTH Offer
Reliance Big TV, yesterday announced a new DTH plan to lure the subscribers in the country. The struggling DTH arm is claiming to offer up to 500 channels which also includes HD channels free for one year. Customers across the country can pre-book a new Big TV set-top box starting today through the company’s official website.
However, do make a note that the offer can be availed depending on the stock availability. “Reliance Big TV is going to mark the beginning of a new dawn in the way Indians have been accessing entertainment on their TV sets,” director of Reliance Big TV, Vijender Singh, said in a statement. Reliance Big TV stated that the company has come up with this offer to make a mark in the Indian DTH industry and also to fulfil the Indian government’s Digital India initiative.
Under this new offer, the company will be providing its latest HD HEVC set-top box, which also offers an additional set of features such as YouTube, recording of TV shows, schedule program recording and so on. But there are some catches with this offer though, like every other offer from other companies. Here are the five things you should know about the Reliance Big TV’s free DTH service offer.
1) Customers Have to Pay an Upfront Amount of Rs 1,999 A customer who’s looking to avail this offer has to pay an upfront amount of Rs 499 while booking the STB from the company’s website. But this amount is to just confirm the booking. Once the STB arrives on your doorstep, you have to make an additional payment of Rs 1,500 on receipt. An installation charge of Rs 250 will also be applicable.
2) Free Subscription for One Year Once after you get the subscription by paying the Rs 1,999 upfront amount, customers can enjoy free DTH services for one year without any requirement of topping up the DTH account.
3) Rs 300 Per Month Starting the Second Year After the completion of one year, customers need to pay an amount of Rs 300 per month to enjoy the subscription to all channels. Do make a note that a monthly recharge should be done to get the services effectively free.
4) Recharge Rs 7,200 to Get the Refund of Rs 1,999 As stated, from the second year, customers need to recharge the STB with Rs 300 every month to enjoy the services. After continuous recharges of 24 months (two years), the company will issue a refund of Rs 1,999, which was paid at the time of purchasing the STB.
5) Cashback Will Be in the Form of Recharge Value Unlike the cashback offers run by telecom operators, Reliance Big TV will be refunding the amount of Rs 1,999 in the form of account recharge value. However, we do not have any details about how the Rs 1,999 refund will be issued- the entire amount at once or in the form of monthly value.

How To Download Games In JIO Phone 2? (In Hindi/ Tamil/ Telugu)

While the previous version, better known as Jio Phone was available in the market October 1, 2017 (Official) onwards. But before learning about how to install the games in Jio Phone, one should have the proper knowledge of using Google Play Store in the Jio Phone.

But, crucial to know about this topic is that – there is both good and bad news. The good news is – YES YOU CAN PLAY GAMES IN JIO PHONE. And, the bad news is – NOT ALL THE GAMES AVAILABLE IN THE PLAY STORE SUPPORTS IN JIO PHONE. Using this step by step guide below, you can go through the complete procedure –

But before checking out the steps, let’s learn about a few famous games that can be played in Jio Phones. The list includes – 2048, Steel Story, Maya Brick Breaker, SWOOOP, Chocolate Jewels and Fix-It Felix etc. While precise for Kids, Girs and Boys, games respectively are – Steel Story/ PAC Man/ Crazy Birds, Candy Breaker, Chocolate Jewels and Top Shootout, Age of Barbarians respectively.

So now, without further ado, let’s directly dive into step by step guide. But first, we’ll teach you – How To Use Play Store in Jio Phone. Everyone and their mom know that Google Play Store, which is a default application in all the android phones on the planet Earth is not available in Jio Phone and JioPhone 2 as well.

Reason? It’s because Jio Phone doesn’t run on the Android operating system. Rather, the operating system on which Jio Phone runs is KaiOS and yes it is different from the Apple Inc.’s iOS operating system. Even with the passage of time as Jio Phone became one of the most selling Smartphones in the nation, it crossed the number of iOS operating system users in India and became the second most used operating system after Android.

Thus, Google Play Store can be used following the steps are given below –

  • STEP 1: There is a default browser available in Jio Phone. Open that browser.
  • STEP 2: Now in the URL section above, type – www.google.com.
  • STEP 3: Once on the page of Google Search Engine, now either you can type – Google Play Store or visit the official website (name of the official website of Google Play Store is – https://play.google.com/store?hl=en.)
  • STEP 4: Through this link – https://play.google.com/store?hl=en, you can directly visit the Google Play Store and thus can skip the Step 1 and Step 2. And, once Google Play Store is opened up, here’s the page where you’ll search for Games to play in your Jio Phone.

Now let’s move onto the Step by Step guide to download and play the games in Google Play Store. Here’s what you can do, but first remember that there are major two methods of playing games in Mobile or Jio Phone 2 and have your mind refreshed. First one is – playing games online. In this method, it is mandatory for you to have a good and working quite high-speed internet connection or otherwise your game will hang a lot because of the slow connection.

Apart from that, the second method is to have the game downloaded in your Jio Phone or Jio Phone 2 and play it offline whenever you want, wherever you want and however you want because it need not have an internet connectivity issues.

Also, another most important thing is that in Jio Phone or Jio Phone 2, most important thing to remember is that, not all screen touch games are keypad based and undoubtedly you cannot play screen touch games in Jio Phone unless they also have the keypad based controls from the side of manufacturing company.

Needless to say, most of the peoples on the planet, prefer option 2 to option 1. And, for both the options, here is a guide –
  • Now since you’re in Google Play Store, you can open it using steps given above.
  • Further, find the search bar mainly available on the top of the screen.
  • Enter the name of the Game you want to play in it from the general categories which usually are – MMO or Massively Multiplayer Online, Simulations, Adventure, Real Time Strategy (RTS), Puzzle, Action, Stealth Shooter, Combat, First Person Shooter (FPS), Sports, Role-Playing (RPG) and educational etc.
  • Now after searching the game, not all will show you ‘Download’ or ‘Install’ button. Because not all the games are supported in the Jio Phone only that shows are supported.
  • And, out of those ones even, you may easily have some of the top games or heavily size games crashing off or hanging your phone like anything. But obviously, you should remember that you bought the Jio Phone because you’re not a Mobile Phone Games lover.
  • For the games that are available, after clicking on ‘Download’ button, you need not install it separately, after getting downloaded successfully it will install automatically.

Reliance Jio has announced a new postpaid plan starting at Rs 199. The biggest highlight of the plan are international calls starting at 50 paise/minute. Wonder how the Jio's new postpaid plan compares to that of plans from Airtel, Vodafone and Idea? Here we have compared Jio's all-new Rs 199 plan with similar postpaid plans from the company's three rivals.
Reliance Jio's Rs 199 plan: How it compares to plans from Airtel, Vodafone, Idea
1. Relaince Jio Rs 199 postpaid plan: 25GB 4G data; unlimited local, STD and national roaming calls; ISD calls starting at 50 paise/per minute (activation free)
2. Airtel Rs 399 postpaid plan: 20GB 4G data; unlimited local, STD and national roaming calls; ISD calls starting at Rs 50/per minute (after paying Rs 149 per month for international roaming activation fee)
3. Vodafone Rs 399 postpaid plan: 20GB 4G data; unlimited local, STD and national roaming calls; ISD calls starting at Rs 8/per minute (after paying Rs 149 per month for international roaming activation fee)

One of the biggest letdowns for Reliance Jio in the current scenario is its postpaid plans. While Jio’s prepaid plans are unbeatable, it’s postpaid plans are nowhere close to the competition. Today, Jio promised that it would redefine the postpaid services in India. The all-new JioPostpaid service will be available for subscription starting May 15, 2018. Under the JioPostpaid service, the telco’s primary focus is to provide affordable postpaid plans and redefining the international roaming meaning. For the users looking for a plan within India, the telco has come up with a Zero-Touch plan of Rs 199.
On top of the existing plan, Jio will be providing affordable international call rates. As of now, we don’t have any info on whether the earlier postpaid plans will be retained, but with JioPostpaid, the telco has strengthened the postpaid offerings suited to the requirements of postpaid subscribers. Today, Jio has introduced a new ‘Zero-Touch‘ postpaid service. Under the service, the telco is offering a postpaid tariff plan, which comes pre-activated with all the services such as voice, internet, SMS, and international calling.
Jio Promises to Redefine Postpaid Services in India, Launches Rs 199 Plan With 25GB Data
JioPostpaid Unlimited Plan of Rs 199 Under this plan, Reliance Jio is offering unlimited voice calls and SMS without any limit per month. In terms of data, the plan provides 25GB of data per billing cycle and the plan also comes with Jio apps premium subscription, preactivated ISD and international roaming calling option. However, it doesn’t offer international roaming call though. So Reliance Jio is touting the JioPostpaid as ‘India’s First Zero-Touch Service Experience.’ The JioPostpaid service as mentioned comes pre-activated with all the necessary benefits and it’s an unlimited plan, meaning there won’t be any high overages, bill shocks and unpredictable bills with the service. Reliance Jio also has the Auto Pay service, which can be activated manually and the company will also be providing an e-bill option, which allows the user to check the bill in real-time.
That said, Jio has always been a prepaid service provider, and the international roaming service in the past was messed up one. However, Jio is turning things around, especially in terms of international roaming benefit. The JioPostpaid plan offers unlimited voice calls and SMS within India at Rs 199, and the international calling rates start at Rs 50 paise per minute. Of course, as you might be aware of, the international calling rates differ from one country to other. And Jio is offering International roaming at home-like rates, which is Rs 2-2-2. It breaks down as follows- Rs 2 for a minute for voice, Rs 2 per SMS and Rs 2 per MB of data consumed. Also, there’s no Security Deposit required to start international services and the calls start at Rs 50 per minute as mentioned above. There’s no need for a rate cutter or service charges involved with the JioPostpaid service. Sadly, Jio did not annouce the data roll over feature with this plan though.

With the increasing craze for higher FUP broadband plans and unlimited FUP plans, Reliance Jio, which is still testing its broadband service, JioFiber, has now started offering 100 Mbps broadband connection with 1.1TB FUP limit. Reliance Jio, which is expected to officially announce the JioFiber broadband services in Q2 2018 has now taken the competition seriously. So far, Jio offered a 100 Mbps connection with 100GB FUP. However, 100GB FUP has now become a thing of past and users are craving for more data FUP on a monthly basis, which is the reason behind the increase of FUP to 1.1TB. However, Jio will not provide 1.1TB of FUP up front as per a report. The Mukesh Ambani-led company will still offer 100GB of FUP during the Welcome offer period, however, at the same time, it will introduce free data add-on packs which the customer has to activate manually. A report from The Hindu states that Jio will still offer Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband plan of 100 Mbps with 100GB FUP. Once the customer exceeds the 100GB FUP, they will be allowed to activate data top-up of 40GB for 25 times in a month, which makes the overall data benefit to 1.1TB.
Reliance Jio to Step in the Fibre Broadband Market With 100 Mbps Connection and 1.1TB FUP
So when the connection gets activated, Jio will provide only 100GB data. As it was rumoured, Jio will unveil both home broadband and enterprise broadband plans, and the Internet Service Provider is looking to grab 100 million home broadband users across 30 cities in India post the launch. And that’s a very small number because the telco will be providing FTTH services free for a period of three months or even more than that. When the service goes official, JioFiber will be available across 30 major cities in India. As we already know, Jio is already running a Preview Offer of JioFiber in major cities such as Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Surat, Vadodara, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru etc. Once the service goes commercial, Jio will launch a Welcome Offer, as we reported earlier, same as how it did with the Jio 4G services. The company offered free 4G services to the users before the commercial launch in September 2016, and once the service goes official, the Preview Offer becomes Welcome Offer. At the moment, Reliance Jio is collecting a refundable security deposit amount of Rs 4,500 from each household to provide a free JioFiber connection.
The company is also providing a free Jio Router to the customers opting the service, which can also be used for IPTV services that Jio is planning to launch. Through the JioFiber Home Gateway, the telco is looking to provide connectivity to multiple devices. And there might be an ‘extend’ option provided to the customers, under which it will be offering Wi-Fi coverage in every corner of the house with an additional modem. To be noted, Reliance Jio currently has over 3 lakh kms of optical fibre network spread across the country. The JioFiber broadband services could go official anytime soon or by the end of Q2 2018 or in early Q3 2018.
