When you first use Google's photo app, it will ask you whether you want your photos and videos to be backed up or not. But many people forget having given their consent.

You can look up what data like this gets copied from your phone to Google's servers in your Android smartphone's settings. Go to settings/accounts/Google, and you'll also find the options to deactivate synchronisation in each category.

Anyone who's wondering how photos and videos end up on Google servers even though there's no category for them under "account" should have a look in the settings of their Google photo app.

That's where you can switch off the synchronisation feature, meaning photos and videos are stored only on your smartphone.

This year wasn’t a good one for the Lenovo sub-brand Motorola. The company launched not many smartphones, and the ones it announced wasn’t very popular. To make it up for 2018’s fall looks like Motorola has already started working on making 2019 a good one. Motorola is expected to kick-start the upcoming year with the Moto G7 lineup. Just like the Moto G6 series, under the G7 series, Motorola is expected to launch three phones, Moto G7, Moto G7 Play and Moto G7 Plus.

After launching the Nokia 8.1 in Dubai last week, HMD Global has launched the smartphone in India today for a starting price tag of Rs 26,999. With the Nokia 8.1, HMD Global is looking to replace the Nokia 7 Plus in the country, which is currently selling for Rs 25,999 in India. Yet again, similar to some of the latest Nokia phones, the Nokia 8.1 comes with a slim bottom chin.

Although Motorola is yet to announce the smartphone, considering the rumours and leaks, it looks like the launch of the Moto G7 is nearing. The smartphone has also been certified by the U.S. FCC. Some reports suggest that Motorola will be launching the three usual phones under its upcoming G series, while some other rumours suggest that there will be four phones, including the Moto G7 Power. Going by the rumours and leaks, almost everything has been revealed about the standard Moto G7. Let’s take a quick look at everything we know about the Moto G7 so far.

Moto G7: Design

CAD renders, live pictures and a lot more showing the Moto G7 has been leaked. The CAD renders leaked some days ago show the phone from almost all angles giving us a fair idea about the overall design of the phone. As far as the design is concerned, the Moto G7 will sport much slimmer bezels compared to the Moto G6. In fact, the Moto G7 is said to improve upon the screen-to-body ratio of the Moto G6 by bringing a waterdrop display notch display. Unlike the slim top bezel, the renders show that the bottom bezel of the Moto G7 will be thicker in comparison. The water drop notch, as also seen on other phones with a similar notch, will sport the single selfie camera.

On the front, the Moto G7 will sport a single camera, while on the back panel it will sport two cameras paired with dual LED flash. Following the rear camera setup, the back cover will include the fingerprint scanner embedded in the Moto logo.

Moto G7: Specifications

As far as the specs are concerned, the Moto G7 is said to be powered by Snapdragon 632 mobile platform paired with either 3GB or 4GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB storage. The smartphone is expected to come packed with a big 6.24-inch Full HD+ display paired with a 19:9 aspect ratio. As for the camera configuration, the Moto G7 is said to come with a 12MP primary camera with an aperture of f/1.8 and a 5MP secondary camera with an aperture of f/2.2. On the front, the Motorola phone is expected to come with an 8MP selfie shooter paired with f 2.2 aperture. On the software front, the phone is said to run on Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box.

The expected specifications of Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2, which is set to be launch on December 11, are doing the rounds. However, no confirmation is there from the Taiwanese phonemaker. The smartphone is likely to be a Flipkart exclusive.

The phone is likely to come with triple camera setup at the back, however, no details of the camera resolution or lens type came to light yet. It is also expected that the device would sport a Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection along with display notch.

Zenfone Max Pro M2 is likely to be more premium in comparison to the Zenfone Max Pro M1. It would be powered by the fastest Qualcomm chipset in the segment. However, considering the price of Zenfone Max Pro M1, which was a budget phone, it can be expected that Max Pro M2 would likely to be priced under Rs 20,000.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 is likely to sport an edge-to-edge 5.99-inch full HD+ IPS display along with the dual camera that would be placed vertically at the back panel, followed by the LED flash. Speculations are also there that there would be a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The device is likely to be packed with Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core SoC, 509 Adreno GPU and will come in two variants- 3GB/4GB of RAM with 32GB/64GB of internal storage which can be expanded via microSD card.

Coming to the camera front, the new device would sport a 13-megapixel sensor and a 5-megapixel depth sensor at the rear side and a megapixel sensor for selfies and video calling with soft light LED flash support at the front.

On the software front, the new phone is likely to run stock Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. The price for the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage version is Rs 10,999, the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage model costs Rs 12,999, whereas the 6GB RAM with 64GB storage variant is priced at Rs 14,999.

Nokia 7.1 has finally been officially launched in India. The smartphone features a PureDisplay panel as its primary highlight, supporting HDR10. Although the OnePlus 6 and the OnePlus 6T users received the Android 9 Pie based OxygenOS update recently, the other OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users were left out of this rollout. Also, as per the declared timeline by OnePlus, the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users were slated to receive the OxygenOS based on Android 9 Pie a while ago. However, there have been delays in the rollout of the firmware. As a result, the users of these devices are venting out on Twitter and also posting on OnePlus forums regarding the delay in the rollout. To answer to the frustration of these users, a OnePlus representative announced that the update is almost out and urged the users to keep a little bit more patience.

Android 9 Pie for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T Users

Ever since the launch of its latest flagship phone the OnePlus 6T, the Chinese OEM has focused majorly on rolling out updates for its users of the newest smartphone. With the phone already out in the market, the manufacturer has pushed three software updates and is also on the task of bettering the experience of Android 9 Pie on the OnePlus 6T. However, in this pursuit, OnePlus has kept the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users on the sidelines, thus delaying the rollout of the Android 9 Pie based OxygenOS update for these users.

On the other hand, the company released the HydrogenOS Open Beta based on Android 9 Pie last week in China for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users. Going by the past trends of the company, usually, the rollout of HydrogenOS and OxygenOS remains a week apart. However, there has been an unprecedented delay in the rollout for the OxygenOS this time. Given that the HydrogenOS and the OxygenOS differ a lot and the former comes with all the features of the operating system barring the Google Play Services and other Google related apps on the phone, a sight delay also seems inevitable

To reach out to the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users who have been eagerly waiting for these updates, OnePlus took the chance in its weekly update on the OnePlus forum. In its Week 258 update, a OnePlus representative wrote, “Some of you may have noticed that it has been three weeks since the last Open Beta build for OnePlus 5/5T. We’d like to shed some light that Pie for 5/5T is almost out for Open Beta.”

It’s worth noting that as part of the Open Beta programme, OnePlus usually delivers up to two updates in a month. However, in November, OnePlus hasn’t followed up with even a single update thus resulting in impatience for the users of OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. With this new announcement from OnePlus, there has been a sigh of relief for the users that have been waiting for the past few weeks. Now we expect OnePlus to push the OxygenOS Open Beta based on Android 9 Pie next week, while a stable build for the same will be pushed to the users in December or early January.

New Features Expected for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T Users

This update is going to be a significant one for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users as it will bring onboard the Android 9 Pie over their devices. Since OnePlus has invested a considerable amount of time into rolling out this update, we expect it to be mainly bug-free still having the Beta flag; users might see some little shortcomings. The new OxygenOS will bring a better UI along with some more features. Some of these will include the new navigation system as seen on the OnePlus 6 or 6T, camera improvements, notched up battery life, revamped caller ID and redesigned weather app among many others.

Flagship Android smart are plenty fast these days, and most of the stutters and stammers that used to impact their interfaces have been addressed. Sure you’ll still come across the odd bug and some frame skipping here and there, but for the most part Android phone vendors have really gotten their acts together. Of course, speed on a smartphone is like money or vacation days: you can never have enough. What you might not realize though, is that you don’t have to wait for a new phone with a next-generation processor or new faster RAM chips to enjoy a speedier experience on your Android smartphone.

These secret settings instantly make any Android phone feel twice as fast

These secret settings instantly make any Android phone feel twice as fast, android, android hacks, android options, android secret settings, android secrets, android security settings, android settings, android tips, android tricks, phone secret apps, phone secret codes, samsung settings, settings

Every so often, we run a post like this one with instructions on how to adjust a few secret settings that will have an instant impact on your Android phone, speeding up the interface and making it feel so much faster. Why do we cover the same topic multiple times each year? Simple: because we have tens of millions of readers, and new readers tune in all the time. This trick is so simple and so useful that we want to give as many people as possible the opportunity to get in on the action.

This time around, there’s an impetus for our decision to cover this trick for the second time this year. Samsung recently released a new Android Pie beta for the Galaxy S9 that debuts the company’s new One UI, which is the new interface that will be found on future Android phones including the foldable Galaxy F. Now that users have gotten their hands on the beta, it’s been discovered that Samsung used this trick themselves by default in One UI!

So, what exactly are we talking about? Here’s how it works:

When you switch apps or top around through pop-ups, the speed of the animations that transition you from one screen to the next actually have a huge impact on the speed of the user interface. They already seem to move so quickly that you barely notice them. But believe it or not, doubling the speed of these animations actually has a massive impact on how fast your Android phone feels. And as you might have surmised by now, that’s exactly what we’re going to teach you how to do in this post.

As we mentioned, each time you open an app, close an app, open or tap out of pop-ups, or switch between apps, your phone plays a transition animation. This way there’s a smooth transition from one screen to the next, rather than just an abrupt image change. Those animations might seem fast, but there’s an easy way to speed them up even more and the end result is a phone that feel much faster with a UI that seems much more fluid. And the best part is that it couldn’t be easier to adjust these settings.

There’s a secret Settings menu inside Android’s Settings app called “Developer options” and it’s filled with a wide range of advanced options. It’s hidden by default — it is a secret, after all — but it’s simple to gain access to it on your phone.
  • Open the Settings app
  • If your handset runs Android 8.0+, tap System (skip this step if you’re on an earlier version of Android)
  • Scroll down and tap About phone
  • Scroll down again and tap Build number 7 times consecutively

There are so many different vendor versions of Android out there that the instructions on your phone may vary slightly, but a quick Google search should do the trick. Then once you’ve gained access to the Developer options on your phone, open it and scroll down until you see the following three settings:
  • Window animation scale
  • Transition animation scale
  • Animator animation scale

Next to each of the three aforementioned settings, you’ll see a “1x.” That number indicated that your animations are being played at 100% speed. To make them play twice as fast, all you need to do is tap each setting and change “1x” to “.5x,” then exit the Developer options section once you’re done. “.5x” is half of “1x,” of course, which means the same animation will be displayed in half the time. In other words, your transition animations will be twice as fast. Just to ensure there isn’t any confusion, be sure to select “.5x” and not “5x.”

Whether you’re the owner of an older Android phone that’s starting to feel a bit sluggish or you have a brand new flagship, your phone will feel brand new all over again by making these simple adjustments.

The latest leak says that the upcoming OnePlus 5G phone will cost around $100 more than the current OnePlus flagship. The OnePlus 6T comes at a starting price of Rs 37,999 and adding another $100 translates to around Rs 7,000 in extra.

So the upcoming OnePlus 5G phone in India will come at a starting price of Rs 45,999.

Adding 5G internals to the phone will substantially add up to the total cost forcing OnePlus to increase the overall price. OnePlus is going to be one of the first few manufacturers in the world to launch a 5G supported phone next year.

OnePlus Roaming Launched: Global SIM-Free Data Service

OnePlus has launched a global SIM-free data service to be available with OnePlus phones. The latest Oxygen OS beta update has this Roaming service which will work in most of the countries (as OnePlus said).

OnePlus Roaming can be activated with any package you purchase. The data package and price will vary from country to country.

How OnePlus Roaming Works?

The OnePlus Roaming service provides you with an option to access data without a local SIM card. You need to purchase a data package in advance to get data access, and you won’t need any local SIM card in your phone. You have to purchase package initially in the given list to get access later.

The purchases will be available in the ordered list, which you can activate after arriving at your destination.

How OnePlus Roaming Is Different Than Other Carriers?

You don’t need a local SIM card to get access to OnePlus Roaming. Also, you will not be able to use any SIM service like a direct phone call or message to any contact. Unlike other roaming plans offered by different carriers, the OnePlus Roaming only comes with data access.

You can do anything you do with your mobile data. You can use WhatsApp or Facebook or Google Duo to make call. There are a lot of other ways to connect over the internet, and hopefully you have a better idea at it.

The OxygenOS Open Beta is currently available for OnePlus 6 users only. The update has been rolled out via an OTA. Users who still have not received the update can download it here.

So, finally, the Redmi Note 5 Pro successor is coming to the country. Xiaomi India has confirmed that the smartphone will launch on November 22 in India. This would be a Flipkart exclusive.

The upcoming Redmi Note 6 Pro will come with a 19:9 notched 6.26-inch Full HD+ display having a screen resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels.

At the back, it will host two cameras: 12-megapixel primary sensor and secondary 5-megapixel sensor. There will be another two on the front as well: 20-megapixel primary lens coupled with a 2-megapixel portrait sensor.

Same Snapdragon Chipset

The next-generation Redmi Note smartphone will come with the same chipset as the predecessor. Qualcomm is yet to announce a successor to its current Snapdragon 636. It was launched in October 2017 built on a 14nm process. The same chipset will power Note 6 Pro again, known for its power, performance, and efficiency.

Two Selfie Cameras

Redmi Note 6 Pro will come with a dual camera setup on the front. Xiaomi says that the two cameras will help to improve imaging capabilities. It will combine the same 20-megapixel Sony sensor from the predecessor backed by a second 2-megapixel sensor for portrait feature to enhance bokeh effects.

MIUI 10 Out Of Box

The smartphone will run on the latest MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Redmi Note 5 Pro also runs on MIUI 10. Some leaks suggest that the smartphone may run Android Pie with the new MIUI, but it’s highly unlikely. Don’t expect Android 9.0 Pie on any Xiaomi smartphone until early 2019.

Design, Camera & Battery To Remain Same

Both Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi Note 6 Pro will be highly similar in nature. Starting from the rear camera to the design language to OS to the 4,000mAh battery, everything will remain same on the new Redmi Note 6 Pro. Only the display has got bigger and there’s an additional camera sensor upfront.

Success Of Redmi Note Phones In India

Every Redmi Note phone in India has been extremely successful. From Redmi Note 3 to Redmi Note 4 to the current Redmi Note 5 Pro, every smartphone from each of the generation has been a bestseller in the Indian market. 5 million units of Redmi Note 5 Pro was sold within 4 months of its launch. So, the expectations are going to be high with Redmi Note 6 Pro as well.

Redmi Note 6 Pro Price In India

The smartphone has been launched in Thailand for a starting price of 6,990 Baht, which roughly translates to INR 15,550. We expect the smartphone to be priced even lower given the current competition available in the market.

Redmi Note 6 Pro Variants

The smartphone is globally available in three storage variants: 64GB internal storage with 4GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage with 4GB of RAM. In India, the company RN6 Pro may launch in two variants, both with 64GB storage and altered RAM capacity.

Redmi Note 6 Pro Competition In India

The smartphone will face direct heat from current mid-range budget smartphones like Realme 2 Pro and Honor 8X. Backed by improved features and specifications, there are better smartphones available in the same price category. If Redmi Note 6 Pro is not priced aggressively, it will have a hard time in the market this time around.

Redmi Note 6 Pro is scheduled to launch on November 22 in three color variations of Blue, Black and Rose Gold with a Red edition later.

If there’s one thing Android users love, it’s the notch. That’s why diehard Android fans were so excited when just about every smartphone maker on the planet decided to copy Apple’s iPhone X design earlier this year.
It’s finally here: This is the ugliest smartphone in the history of smartphones

Just in case it wasn’t clear, we’re being sarcastic and hardcore Android fans have historically hated the notch. Apple wasn’t the first smartphone maker to cut a notch out of its display, of course, but it was the first to use the notch design seen on the iPhone X. And of course that’s the design every Android phone company decided to copy, for obvious reasons — if Apple does something, they have to do it too. The worst part is they copied the design for no practical reason. Apple only needs such a large notch because of all the components in the TrueDepth camera system. Android phones don’t have complex 3D face scanning features, so all along they could have been using a much better and smaller notch design like the one on the OnePlus 6T. But hey, then they wouldn’t be copying Apple!

Of course, some companies aren’t content with just copying Apple, and on Thursday Sharp decided to turn things up a notch. Sadly, pun intended.

Behold: the ugliest smartphone in the history of smartphones. That’s right, folks… it’s finally here!

Sharp on Thursday morning unveiled its upcoming Sharp Aquos R2 compact smartphone, a monstrosity that might haunt your dreams for the rest of your life. It has not one but two notches… and they’re different shapes! The notch on the top houses the selfie camera, and it’s a teardrop shape like the one on the Essential PH-1. Then there’s a notch on the bottom for a home button, of all things, and it’s shaped like Apple’s notch from the iPhone X, iPhone XS, and iPhone XR. When combined, they make for a design that is downright hideous.

As for specs, the Aquos R2 compact features a 5.2-inch 2280 x 1080 IGZO LCD screen, a Snapdragon 845 chipset, 4GB of RAM, a 22.6-megapixel camera, a 2,500 mAh battery, and Sharp’s skinned version of Android 9.0 Pie. Thankfully, there is a tiny bit of good news to be found in this story. Sharp’s Aquos R2 compact is expected to be released sometime next year, but it’ll never make its way to US shores.
