Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar (born Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia on September 9, 1967) is an Indian film actor, producer and martial artist who has appeared in over a hundred Hindi films. He has been nominated for several Filmfare Awards and has won twice.

      Kumar was born in Amritsar, Punjab. From a very young age, he was recognised as a performer, particularly as a dancer. Kumar was raised in Delhi's Chandni Chowk neighbourhood before his family moved to Mumbai. In Mumbai, he lived in Koliwada, which was another Punjabi dominated area. He studied at Don Bosco School and then Guru Nanak Khalsa College (King's Circle).

Akshay Kumar was born to Hari Om Bhatia and Aruna Bhatiya. His father was a military officer. He has one sister named Alka Bhatia. 

 Akshay Kumar is married to ex-actor Twinkle Khanna, who herself is the daughter of Bollywood biggies – the late Rajesh Khanna, and Dimple Kapadia. They live in Mumbai and have two children together.

Akshay got married to Bollywood actress Twinkle Khanna on 17 January 2001. She is the daughter of legendary actors Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia. The couple is blessed with two children son Aarav born on September 15, 2002 and daughter Nitara Kumar, born on September 25, 2012.

Personal life

Akshay Kumar loves to stay fit and is involved in workout to attain so. He is crazy about cars and even has a long list of brand endorsements. He always keeps his kids close to him and they stand at the highest priority in his life. He even got a tattoo of his son's name on his back. 

Akshay got 'Katana' Award - highest Japanese honour and also sixth degree belt in Kuyukai karate. He was one of the 15 recipients among International celebrities who were invited to Canada for Olympics torch-bearer rally. 

Career

Till date Akshay has featured in more than 100 films and received appreciation for his acting skills. In 1994, he has appeared in 11 films. He also played supporting role in Dil To Pagal Hai, co-starring SRK, Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor, for which he received his first nomination for the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award. He was seen in all films of "Khiladi series". 

In 1999, Kumar played opposite Twinkle Khanna in International Khiladi. He was also seen in Negative Role in some films. 2007 has proved to be Akshay's most successful year with four outright hits and no flops.

Akshay Kumar will be seen in 2.0 aka Enthiran 2/Robot 2, a sci-fi film directed by Shankar alongwith Rajnikanth and Amy Jackson. Akshay plays scientist Richard who, after an experiment goes wrong, turns crazy and loses his appearance. It will be released on 25 January 2018. 

He will also be seen in 'Namastey England' opposite Sonakshi Sinha. He will also be seen opposite Bhumi Pednekar in the film 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha'. The film is a social commentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan. It will release on August 11, 2017. 2- Robot Sequel (2.0)

On Akshay Kumar upcoming movies 2018 List, 2.0 is a big budget movie. Robot 2 is the second installment of legendary south Indian superstar Rajinikanth starrer science fiction film Robot (2010), starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in a female lead.

In 2.0, the makers have been roped in Akshay Kumar as the main villain. This will be the first occasion that Akshay is playing the role of a hardcore villain. It is said that Robot 2 will be the costliest film ever in the history of Indian cinema. The budget of Robot 2 is around Rs 350 crore.

3- Padman

Akshay Kumar posted his upcoming movies 2017 list on twitter, Padman was one of them but film is now shifted to next year, he shared first look which is captioned with the text “based on an extraordinary true story Padman“. Akshay Kumar is bringing another true story of a social entrepreneur Arunachalam Muruganantham, who invented and provides low-cost sanitary napkins to poor women in rural areas.

5- Mogul

Jolly LLB2 director is going to direct a film based on Gulshan Kumar’s life and Akshay Kumar will play a lead role in the film.

6- Crack

After collaborating successfully in Special 26 (2013), Baby (2015) and Rustom (2016), Akshay is once teamed up with Neeraj Pandey in the upcoming psychological thriller titled Crack to be hit the screens in 2018.

7- Ikka

Ikka is a big budget upcoming Bollywood movie of Akshay Kumar. Ikka is the Hindi remake of hit south Indian film Thupakki. A. R. Muruigadoss, who had earlier worked with Akshay in Holiday- Never off Duty (2015) is again working with him as the producer. A newcomer director Jagan Shakti will direct the film that will go on the floors in December 2016 and scheduled to hit the screens somewhere around second half of 2017.

8- Namaste England

Namaste English is called as the remake of Akshay Kumar’s hit melodrama Namaste London (2007). Vipul Shah has decided to start the sequel of the film with Akshay but as Akshay Kumar is currently busy with his other projects, so Namaste England will go on the floors in the latter part of 2017 and to be released in 2018. The leading lady in the film will be decided later on. The pair of Akshay and Vipul Shah had earlier given some superhit films like Waqt (2005) and Singh is King (2008).

This is a sports drama and based on a true incident or the story of First Gold medal by India in Olympic. Akshay tweeted about this film on his official twitter account that “Set in 1948, the historic story of India’s first Olympic medal as a free nation, #GOLD coming to you on 15th August 2018!”

Akshay made his Bollywood acting debut on year 1991 with film Saugandh. Then on year 1992 he again starred in film Khiladi. On year 1994 he acted in his first action film Main Khiladi Tu Anari and then Mohra which were the Highest grossing films of the year. Then he signed for Yash Chopra's film Yeah Dillagi which again was a success. He recived his first nominations for Best Actor award at the Filmfare and Star Screen ceremonies. Later on the same year, Akshay made another two films Suhaag and Elaan which was a success. He was then declared as one of the most successful actors of that year.

In year 2000 he acted in film Hera Pheri which was a hit. Then he did a romantic film Dhadkan which went about average. Then later on that year he made some dangerous stunts in Khiladi 420, where he climbed a running plane, stood on top of the plane flying a thousand feet in the air, and jumped from the plane onto a hot air balloon.

Then in 2001, for the first time Akshay played a negative role in film Ajnabee.The film won him much acclaim as well as his first Filmfare Award for Best Villain. Then he played a blind man role in Aankhen.

He then went into some comedy films like Awara Paagal Deewana in year 2002 and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi in year 2004 and Garam Masala in year 2005. The films successded at the box office and then he won his second Filmfare Award, for Best Comedian. Then Akshay was seen in a dramatic roles in films such as Ek Rishtaa in year 2001, Aankhen in year 2002, Bewafaa in year 2005 and Waqt: The Race Against Time in year 2005.

Then in year 2006 he starred in the sequel of Hera Pheri titled Phir Hera Pheri. The sequel became a huge success at box office. Than later on the same year he starred alongside Salman Khan in the romantic musical Jaan-E-Mann. It did not went well on box office. Then at the end of the year he played another comedy film Bhagam Bhag wich was again a success. 

In year 2007 he gave some four outright hits and with no flops. He first released Namastey London, which was a huge success which earned him a Best Actor nomination at Filmfare. Then films he did films like Heyy Babyy and Bhool Bhulaiyaa, which were box office successes. Then on the last of the year he did film Welcome which was extremely well at box office, receiving a blockbuster status and simultaneously becoming his fifth successive hit. 

On year 2008, his first film Tashan which was with Yash Raj Films after 11 years got floped. Then he came in film Singh is Kinng which again made a huge success at box office and broke the first week worldwide record of Om Shanti Om which was the previously highest figure. He did a animated film Jumbo. On that year he also came in small screen show hosting a game show Fear Factor - Khatron Ke Khiladi.

Then in 2009 he came in a film Chandni Chowk to China under Warner Bros - Rohan Sippy production which was a flop. Then 8 x 10 Tasveer which was again a flop. Then he released Kambakkht Ishq and Blue film. Blue collected about Rs 42 Crores at box office. He then starred in De Dana Dan film.

On year 2010 he starred in film Housefull which made the second highest opening weekend collection of all time. Then he made Khatta Meetha which went average. He starred in Action Replayy later that year which was a failure.

  Kumar primarily starred in action films and was particularly known for his appearances in the "Khiladi series", which included Khiladi (1992), Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994), Sabse Bada Khiladi(1995), Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi (1996), Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi (1997), International Khiladi (1999), and Khiladi 420 (2000). He also starred in other action films such as Mohra (1994), Elaan (1994), Suhaag (1994), Sapoot (1996), Keemat (1998), Angaaray (1998) and Sangharsh (1999).

      Later he also gained fame for his drama, romance and comic roles. He started becoming known for his performances in romance films like Yeh Dillagi (1994), Dhadkan (2000), Jaan-E-Mann (2006) and Namastey London (2007) as well as drama films such as Ek Rishtaa (2001), Waqt: The Race Against Time (2005) and Patiala House (2011) . His comic performances in comedy films such as Hera Pheri (2000), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Garam Masala (2005), Heyy Babyy (2007), Singh Is Kinng (2008), Housefull (2010), Desi Boyz (2011) and Housefull 2(2012) met with acclaim.       2008 marked Kumar’s television debut as the host of the Fear Factor – Khatron Ke Khiladi. In 2009, Kumar founded the Hari Om Entertainment production company. In 2008, the University of Windsor conferred an Honorary Doctorate of Law on Kumar for his contribution to Indian cinema. The following year he was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India. In 2011, Asian Film Awards honored Kumar for his outstanding achievements in cinema.
