Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Greek God’ features have been the reasons for him being roped to play historical characters. If reports are to be believed the actor has been approached by Sanjay Leela Bhansali to portray Lord Shiva in his next movie. According to reports, SLB’s next movie is a film adaptation of Amish Tripathi’s book Immortals Of Meluha. It is the part of a three book series, The Shiva Trilogy written by Tripathi.He is known for his ‘Greek-god’ looks and he went on to become the first superhero of Bollywood, Krrish. So when Sanjay Leela Bhansali decided to follow the story of Immortals of Meluha by adapting it for the big screen, we hear that he first decided to go to Hrithik Roshan for the same.
Reportedly, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is busy with another epic drama Padmavati, found his Lord Shiva in Hrithik Roshan for his next historic drama – an adaptation of Amish Tripathi’s bestselling book Immortals of Meluha. Let us remind you that Karan Johar was planning to produce something similar with Shuddhi under his banner Dharma Productions. However, the film went on to change its leading cast more than thrice with the producer finally deciding to shelve it.
Earlier, Karan Johar was going to make the movie but, the rights that were bought by the filmmaker has expired.When Amish Tripathi was asked about it, he said, “The contract had expired. There were various issues but Karan and I have parted as friends.” Also, when the rights of the movie were in Karan Johar’s hand various Bollywood celebrities have walked in and out of the project. Stars like Salman Khan, Varun Dhawan and Tiger Shroff were approached, who showed some interest but then things didn’t work out and so they did not continue with the movie.
Immortals of Meluha which is happened to be the first novel of Shiva trilogy by Amish Tripathi, chronicles the arrival of lord Shiva in the land of Meluha and his tale of marriage with Goddess Parvati.
Earlier, the movie was scheduled to be helmed by Karan Johar and Bhansali expressed his interest in the project after the rights bought by Johar was expired and he surrendered to them.
Being asked about the same Tripathi said, "The contract had expired. There were various issues but Karan and I have parted as friends."
Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali would be collaborating together for the second time after they worked together in the 2010 movie Guzaarish. When a leading daily approached the filmmaker, he chose not to comment. On the other hand, author Amish Tripathi excused himself saying he could speak about anything else except this. Hrithik Roshan could not be reached for any comments as he is currently holidaying in the US with his kids.
On the other hand, it is being said that recently the rights for the film has changed hands from Karan Johar to Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the latter will soon commence work on the same once he wraps up his current work commitments.
As for the book, Immortals of Meluha is a part of trilogy that includes Secret Of The Nagas and The Oath of The Vayuputhras. The film follows the life of Shiva, who the Meluhans assume to be their savior Neelkanth and it is followed by his love for Sati and traces a journey as he fights to save the people he loves.
Since ever the movie is in talks, several Bollywood biggies have also walked in and out of the project. 'Dabang' actor Salman Khan, B-town dancing sensation Varun Dhawan and Tiger Shroff are among those stars.
However, leaving them all behind the 'Krrish' actor is currently all set to make his second collaboration with Bhansali. Previously, both the stars joined hands for the 2010 Indian drama 'Guzaarish'.
On the work front, while Bhansali is at present gearing up for his forthcoming period drama 'Padmavati', Hrithik will be next seen in Rakesh Roshan directorial 'Krrish 4'.
The 4th sequel of 'Krrish' which is expected to feature Yami Gautam opposite Hrithik, will hit the screens in 2018.
While on the professional front, Hrithik Roshan will next be seen in the 4th instalment of Krrish which also features Yami Gautam and will release in 2018. Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is currently working on the Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone-Shahid Kapoor starrer ‘Padmavati’.It will release on November 17.
However, neither Sanjay Leela Bhansali nor Hrithik Roshan, who is currently holidaying in the US, has made an official announcement on the same.
