Chinese smartphone maker Huawei Technologies is working on its own proprietary mobile operating system (OS) since 2012 after a US investigation into the company, the media reported. The company, which is also the world's biggest telecommunications equipment manufacturer, would ditch Google's Android platform amid reports that it is under investigation by the US for breaching sanctions against Iran, the South China Morning Post reported on Sunday. "The company started building its own OS after a US investigation into Huawei and ZTE in 2012. Huawei also has its own OS for tablets and personal computers," the report added.
Huawei Said to Be Working on Its Own Mobile Operating System to Replace Android
According to media report, the US House Intelligence Committee found after a year-long investigation that the Chinese businesses, Huawei Technologies and ZTE Inc, were a "national security threat because of their attempts to extract sensitive information from American companies and their loyalties to the Chinese government". Google's Android OS and Apple's proprietary iOS have a stronghold on smartphone OS, accounting for 99.9 percent of the global market, according to Gartner. "The plan to build a proprietary OS was started by Huawei's founder, Ren Zhengfei, and the company has never given up on it as it is seen as a strategic investment to prepare for 'worst-case scenarios'," the report added. Huawei's alternative to Android has not been released as it is not "as good" as Android and the system does not have many third-party apps developed for it.
The company is currently under investigation. If the the US Department of Justice finds it guilty of violating sanctions, it could impose criminal penalties on the smartphone maker. Another Chinese player, ZTE, paid $892 million in fines for exporting US tech to Iran last year. The US Department of Commerce has activated a denial of export privileges against ZTE for alleged violations of the US Export Administration Regulations. ZTE is currently taking steps to comply with the US denial order.
Huawei, the Chinese tech company that is better known for its smartphone devices, is said to be working on its own operating system that might emerge as an Android alternative. Although the company’s handsets, including those from its sub-brand Honor, run on Google’s Android, the new OS version still seems far from seeing the light of the day. As reported by South China Morning Post, Huawei started working on its own operating system ever since it was under investigation by the US in 2012. The company is also said to have its own OS for tablets and personal computers. The project was reportedly started under Huawei’s founder Ren Zhengfei and is a preparation for ‘worst-case scenario’. The OS for now doesn’t seem to be ready for public rollout as it is not as capable as Android. In addition, the OS lacks third-party apps from developers as well.

Huawei P20 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S9+ vs Apple iPhone X: Price, features compared
Huawei P20 Pro, the flagship smartphone with a Leica-branded triple-camera setup, has been officially launched in India. The smartphone has been launched exclusively on Amazon India and will go on its first sale on May 3. The Huawei P20 Pro is priced at Rs 64,999 and comes only in one storage variant. Huawei is launching its P-series after a gap of more than a year. It launched its P9 flagship in India but decided against launching the P10 and P10 Plus. This year, however, Huawei is bringing P20 Lite and P20 Pro to the Indian market and has decided against launching the standard P20. For anybody interested in smartphones, it is easy to say that Huawei P20 Pro is one of the most interesting smartphones in the recent times. Huawei P20 Pro’s major highlight is the triple-camera system with Leica-branded lens but however, the Chinese smartphone maker has also taken deep care to make its flagship outstanding in terms of design and overall aesthetics. One of the key element of that attention to detail is the new twilight color which changes its hue as soon as you tilt it around a light source. It is unlike anything else in the market but it also comes with very strong competition. The Huawei P20 Pro’s direct competitors in India would be the Galaxy S9+ and Apple iPhone X.
Huawei P20 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S9+ vs Apple iPhone X: Design and Display This is probably the most difficult area to compare these three devices since all of them have their own distinct styling. Let’s start with the P20 Pro; Huawei has used a nice mix of metal and glass with a texture on its back that makes it stand out when stacked against other premium smartphones. However, the Galaxy S9+ with its fused metal and glass casing and curved edge display is a killer in terms of looks. Then there is iPhone X, which is understated at first but uses stainless casing, Gorilla Glass back and edge-to-edge display to stay worthy of that premium branding. However, when it comes to display, Huawei falls miserably short of matching Samsung and Apple.
The Galaxy S9+ features a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED display with a Quad HD+ resolution of 2960 x 1440 pixels and 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The iPhone X features a 5.8-inch Super Retina OLED display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The Huawei P20 Pro, on the other hand, features a 6-inch AMOLED display with a resolution 2280 x 1080 pixels and aspect ratio of 18.7:9. It just doesn’t cut in areas like saturation and color reproduction. The Galaxy S9+ and iPhone X have far brighter and color accurate display panels. It is also worth noting that iPhone X and P20 Pro have a notch or cut-out at the top of the display, which may or may not beneficial.
Huawei P20 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S9+ vs Apple iPhone X: Specifications Since these three smartphones are flagship, they definitely come with flagship-grade specifications as well and all three devices use their own indigenously developed mobile processors. The Huawei P20 Pro uses company’s own Kirin 970 chipset with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The octa-core chipset also comes with a dedicated neural processing unit for executing AI applications like voice assistant and object recognition. Huawei is offering the smartphone in only one storage option. Samsung has also equipped its Galaxy S9+ with top-shelf specifications. Under the hood, it gets an octa-core Exynos 9810 SoC with some support for machine learning and neural processing. It comes with 6GB RAM as standard but can be purchased with option for either 64GB or 128GB or 256GB of storage.
Samsung is trying to cover a wide range of audience here and with a price difference of just Rs 4,000 between these storage variants, the South Korean company seems to have properly sorted its product offering. Apple iPhone X is undoubtedly the most powerful smartphone ever made. In synthetic benchmarks, the iPhone X is far, far ahead of Galaxy S9+ and Huawei P20 Pro. It is as powerful as some of the mainstream computer chipsets right now. On the hardware side, it has just 3GB of RAM and option for either 64GB or 256GB of storage but Apple has optimized its iOS mobile operating system to such an extent that the iPhone X will never slow down that easily. On the contrary, Huawei P20 Pro runs Android 8.1 Oreo with its own EMUI on top of it. The Galaxy S9+ runs Android 8.0 Oreo layered with Samsung experience. Over the long term, this could prove to be the biggest disappointment for these two devices since neither Samsung nor Huawei have a very proven record in the software department and are known to offer duplicate apps and bloatware.
Huawei P20 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S9+ vs Apple iPhone X: Cameras That brings us to cameras, an area that Huawei P20 Pro owns. The P20 Pro comes with not one, not two but three cameras at the back. The triple-camera setup and the selfie camera combined have a resolution of 92-megapixels, if that sounds overkill then it is. The triple camera setup is comprised of a primary 40-megapixel image sensor, a secondary 8-megapixel telephoto sensor and third 20-megapixel monochrome sensor. The P20 Pro also uses larger sensors than what we have seen on smartphones so far. In terms of camera results, the P20 Pro holds its own ground as one of the best smartphone cameras but it is hard to decide whether it is any better than Samsung or Google or Apple’s offering. One of the highlight of the P20 Pro is night mode where the camera automatically switches to 4-second long exposure and with bigger sensor, the result tends to be better than rivals. But Huawei also tends to do over process its image compared to Samsung or Apple.
The Galaxy S9+ features a dual 12-megapixel rear-camera system with its primary 12-megapixel sensor supporting mechanical aperture. With the Galaxy S9+, users can manually switch between wider f/1.5 and narrower f/2.4 aperture. In low-light, Samsung tends to absorb more light due to its wide aperture but the daylight pictures are where it shines with crisp details and not a lot of software processing. Apple has the most neutral stance of the pack here. The iPhone X also features dual 12-megapixel camera setup and captures natural looking photos most of the time. It is, however, not the best when it comes to dynamic range. If one area where iPhone X outshines others then it would be in 4K video recording at 60 frames per second. The Galaxy S9+ and Huawei P20 Pro offer a unique super slow-motion video recording at 720p resolution. You won’t go wrong with either of the three devices but Huawei does better of the pack here since it has more sensors and new software features.
Huawei P20 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S9+ vs Apple iPhone X: Pricing
Huawei P20 Pro is priced at Rs 64,999, which makes it competitive against Samsung Galaxy S9+ and Apple iPhone X. The Galaxy S9+ starts at Rs 64,900 while the iPhone X seems too expensive for a starting price of Rs 95,390. Huawei has done well with the pricing and its feature set does help it come out on top of Galaxy S9+ and iPhone X. However, it lacks the familiarity of these two brands, and it might be hard to convince a lot of people to spend Rs 65,000 on a Huawei smartphone.

7. 128GB inbuilt storage : The P20 Pro comes with 128GB inbuilt storage, which is more than what several other flagship smartphones offer.
8. 4000mAh battery : The smartphone is backed by a massive 4000mAh battery. This is more than that of the Galaxy S9 Plus’ 3500mAh. However, the usage time may depend on how many apps the device is running.
9. Fingerprint sensor : Huawei P20 Pro has a fingerprint sensor as an additional layer of security. The sensor is placed at the front below the display.
10. Colours : The smartphone was launched earlier this year in four colours – Black, Twilight, Pink Gold and Midnight Blue. Out of these, Twilight is the being claimed as the signature colour for the smartphone.

Huawei P20 Pro flagship smartphone with triple-rear camera setup will be launched in India today at an event the company is hosting in New Delhi at 11:30am. It will be unveiled in the country alongside the Huawei P20 Lite, but it doesn’t seem the Huawei P20 will be arriving in the country as it has been missing from the teasers. The new Huawei P20 Pro and P20 Lite were originally showcased globally in March, following which it was confirmed they will launch in India “soon.” The dedicated listing page on Amazon India for the Huawei P20 Pro and P20 Lite shows the duo will be exclusively available via the e-commerce platform.
Huawei P20 Pro price in India We will have to wait for the launch event to find out the official Huawei P20 Pro price in India, though it is likely to be right up there with the prices of Samsung Galaxy S9, iPhone 8, etc. Same goes for the P20 Lite smartphone, which is a more affordable device and will likely be positioned against the likes of Vivo V9 and Oppo F5. For those curious, the two new Huawei models cost EUR 899 (roughly Rs. 72,300) and EUR 369 (about Rs. 29,500), respectively.
Huawei P20 Pro specifications The Huawei P20 Pro runs EMUI 8.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo, with support for Google ARCore and a deeply customised Google Assistant. Huawei to Launch Its First 5G Smartphone in 2019
Huawei will launch its first 5G smartphone in the third quarter of 2019, the company has revealed. The announcement was made at an analyst summit it is hosting in Shenzhen, and is in line with the launch plans of other mobile phone brands planning to launch 5G phones.
The company's rotating Chairman Eric Xu also announced it will launch an end-to-end 5G solution in the second half of 2018. In a tweet Moor Insights analyst Anshel Sag said Huawei plans to release its first 5G smartphone in the third quarter of 2019. Rival Chinese brand Vivo plans to launch its first 5G-capable smartphone next year as well, using Qualcomm's X50 5G NR modem.
Other companies that have partnered with Qualcomm for 5G modem include Xiaomi, Nokia brand licensee HMD Global, Sony, LG, HTC, Oppo, and ZTE. "We are fully committed to 5G investment and by the second half of this year, we're going to launch an end-to-end 5G solution," Xu said on Tuesday.
Speaking during his keynote at the 2018 edition of the Huawei Analyst Summit (HAS), Xu said 5G will result in faster speed and decrease networking costs. "5G is just another product line at Huawei. It is a natural evolution of the technology - from 2G to 3G to 4G and now 5G," Xu told the gathering. According to Xu, there is no fundamental difference between 4G and 5G and for the consumers, it is all about faster speed. "We don't have other material differences in experiences for the consumer between the two technologies," he said. The executive said that 4G infrastructure today is robust and the 5G technology will first be targeted at dense areas to meet growing demand from the consumers for more bandwidth.
When asked about the US restricting access to China-made smartphones and telecoms infrastructure owing to security concerns, Xu refused to comment directly but said Huawei's position in the US market has not changed. "We're focused on what we can do and provide better services to our customers,' Xu said. According to him, Artificial Intelligence (AI) will help the telecom industry worldwide to improve networks. In February, Huawei and telecom services provider Bharti Airtel announced to have successfully conducted 5G network trial under a test set-up in India. The trial was conducted at Airtel's Network Experience Centre in Manesar (Gurugram).
During the test trial, a user throughput of more than 3Gbps was achieved. This is the highest measured throughput for a mobile network in 3.5GHz band with 100MHz bandwidth and end-to-end network latency of approximately 1 msec, the company said. "We have been focusing on developing 5G ecosystem and use cases and the show with Bharti Airtel impressively demonstrates the performance capability of 5G in 3.5GHz band," said Emmanuel Coelho Alves, Director, Wireless Marketing, Huawei HQ.
The company, which began investing in 5G research in 2009, is aiming to invest $600 million in the 5G technology by end of this year. "The 5G era is approaching, and we are confident that 5G deployment in India will happen in line with global timeline," Jay Chen, CEO, Huawei India, told IANS recently. Huawei in September last year released its 5G-oriented mobile bearer solution 'X-Haul' for operators in India to build end-to-end 5G networks.

Huawei P20, P20 Pro With FullView Displays, AI Camera Features Launched: Price, Specifications
Huawei P20 and P20 Pro were launched on Tuesday at an event in Paris, France. To recall, the company had unveiled the Huawei P20 Lite earlier this month in several European markets, so we already know all about it. The Chinese telecommunications giant said its new P-Series smartphones feature AI-powered camera features, with the optics 'co-engineered' with Leica. Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO Richard Yu at the event said the company skipped the P11 moniker and jumped straight to P20 as the latest models had major improvements over the previous generation.
You also revealed a new logo for the company. Yu at the event also spoke about the design aesthetic of the new Huawei P20 and P20 Pro smartphones, claiming they have 'seamless surfaces' to touch, and highly symmetrical form factor to see. The colour of the smartphones was also looked at closely, Yu said, with 'nature-inspired' pearlescent effects giving the phone a different colour depending on the angle it was viewed from. Both phones will be available in four colour variants - Graphite Black, Midnight Blue, Pink Gold (gradient colours), and Twilight (gradient colours). Each comes with different, colour-matched themes.
Huawei P20, P20 Pro price The Huawei P20 price has been set at EUR 649 (roughly Rs. 52,200), while the P20 Pro price has been set at EUR 899 (roughly Rs. 72,300). Both smartphones are said to be immediately available globally, but we can expect more details on this front in the near future.
Huawei P20, P20 Pro specifications and features Both the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro are dual-SIM smartphones that run EMUI 8.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. They also support Google ARCore and a deeply customised Google Assistant. Both smartphones are also powered by the octa-core Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC (four Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.36GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.6GHz) complete with a dedicated NPU (neural processing unit). The NPU provides the AI chops to the phone, and is also said to provide up to 60 percent better system response speed, and up to 50 percent smoother operation. It also offers AI-based noise removal on call.
The company also touted NPU acceleration for Android Messages, the new Google-made RCS-based default messaging app on the Huawei phones. The Huawei P20 has 4GB of RAM, while the P20 Pro has 6GB RAM. Both have 128GB of inbuilt storage. Both phones come with a 360-degree Face Unlock feature, said to unlock the smartphones in as little as 0.6 seconds. The Huawei Share 2.0 feature was also launched, for easy sharing between phones and even PCs (Windows and Mac) with up to 96Mbps transfer speeds over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Another new feature is the Huawei Phone Clone app, that helps users migrate between smartphones.
Also new is the Huawei Health app, which features TruScreen heart rate monitoring, TruSleep technology, and secured fitness data cloud storage. The Huawei PC Mode, similar to the Samsung DeX platform, lets users connect their P20 and P20 Pro smartphones to a monitor to replicate a PC-style experience that helps multi-task, use multiple windows at the same time, apart from emulating a keyboard and touchpad on the smartphone itself. Finally, the P20 and P20 Pro come with wireless Hi-Fi audio, with HWA (Hi-Res Wireless Audio), providing 990Kbps bandwidth over Bluetooth. The company has partnered with audio device manufacturers such as Sennheiser, Audio-Technica, and Onkyo to build the HWA ecosystem. Both smartphones also feature stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and Dolby AC-4 audio. The Huawei P20 sports a 5.8-inch full-HD+ (1080x2244 pixels) RGBW FullView display, with the W standing for White, and meant to provide better sunlight legibility.
The display is said to have a peak brightness of 770 nits, which Huawei says is 23 percent brighter than iPhone X. The white elements are also said to provide better power consumption. The company also said the P20 has same size of display as the Samsung Galaxy S9 and the iPhone X, however, it is said to have significantly larger display real estate thanks to smaller bezels and the smaller 'notch' design. It also sports a home button that supports 'edgeless fingerprint'. There is also gesture support, such as short tap for back, long tap for home, and swiping left or right for multi-tasking. The Huawei P20 Pro sports a 6.1-inch full-HD+ (1080x2240 pixels) OLED FullView display, said to have a 1:1,000,000 contrast ratio and a 105 percent colour gamut.
Both smartphones are said to have 'natural tone displays', comfortable for all light conditions. It otherwise bears the same home button, bezel, and notch design as the P20. Huawei says the P20 has an IP53 rating for dust and water resistance. It runs on a 3400mAh battery, despite being just 7.65mm thick, the company said, providing up to 75 hours of continuous music playback. The Huawei P20 Pro on the other hand has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, and is powered by a 4000mAh battery despite being just 7.8mm thick, providing up to 89 hours of music playback. Both batteries support Huawei SuperCharge fast charging that is said to deliver 58 percent in just 30 minutes. It is also said to be a safe fast charging method. The Huawei P20 has dual rear camera setup with large 1.55-micron pixels, featuring a 12-megapixel RGB 1/2.3-inch sensor coupled with an f/1.8 aperture and a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor coupled with an f/1.6 aperture.
The combination gives it superior low-light photography performance, the company said. On the front, the Huawei P20 sports a 24.8-megapixel camera. The company is touting front camera features that help take better selfies. The smartphone also comes with a 3D portrait lighting effect. Huawei cites DxOMark to say the P20 has the best smartphone camera ever, with an overall score of 102, a photo score of 107, and a video score of 94, beating out the iPhone X and the Samsung Galaxy S9. Shortly after, Yu revealed the P20 Pro has even better scores, with an overall score of 109, a photo score of 114, and a video score of 98. Coming to the highlight of the launch, is the triple rear camera setup of the Huawei P20 Pro. The topmost lens bears an 8-megapixel sensor with 3x optical zoom thanks to its Leica telephoto lens (VARIO-SUMMILUX-H 1:1.6-2.4/27-80ASPH). The second, bears a 40-megapixel RGB 1/1.7-inch sensor, while the third bears a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor.
Between the larger lenses, lie a laser transmitter and receiver, for quicker autofocus, as well as a Leica colour temperature sensor. The camera has a light sensitivity up to ISO 102400 - the same as the Canon 5D Mark IV, the company says. This gives it even better low-light performance than the P20, even at 1 lux. The company is also touting the most powerful zoom on a smartphone, as apart from 3x optical zoom, the P20 Pro offers 5x lossless hybrid zoom, and 10x digital zoom. Both the P20 and P20 Pro offer 4D Predictive Focus, said to provide instant focus with motion prediction, providing nearly 'zero shutter lag', Huawei said. The smartphones support 6-axis stabilisation and 960fps super slow motion video recording.
The company has also ensured that you can get to the camera as fast as possible, going from screen-off to shoot in as little as 0.3 seconds. Both phones also offer 'Master AI' scene recognition, with the company boasting of recognition for over 500 scenarios in 19 categories. There is also AI-Assisted Composition, to help with things like alignment and framing. Alongside, Huawei launched its Apple AirPods clone, call Huawei FreeBuds. They are wireless earbuds that have their own charging case, and offering 10 hours of playback when fully charged. At the event, the company also launched the Huawei Active Noise Cancelling Earphones.

Huawei P20, P20 Pro and P20 Lite complete specification list with price leaked
Huawei P20 and the P20 Pro smartphones are something the Chinese tech firm has been teasing for the past few days. There are also some leaks and rumours for the handsets as well, indicating that the ‘Pro’ version will feature as many as three rear cameras. The devices are scheduled to launch in Paris on March 27 at 15:00 CET (2PM IST).
However, a German electronics store, Saturn, seems to have jumped the gun, revealing all the specifications of the duo along side the prices. The images showing all the specifications, shared by GizChina, reveal both Huawei P20 and P20 Pro to run on EMUI 8.1 based on Android Oreo 8.1 OS. Both are also said to feature company’s home-based Kirin 970 processor and 128GB inbuilt storage. There could be a 24MP front-facing camera as well. The display, RAM, camera and battery specs are different.
There is a P20 Lite also shown in the images. Huawei P20 Pro is said to feature a 6.1-inch display with 2240x1080 pixels resolution alongside 6GB RAM and three rear cameras comprising of 40MP+20MP and 8MP sensors. It is also rumoured to feature slow motion recording at 960fps in 720p resolution. The device will be backed by a 4000mAh battery and is likely to cost EUR 899. The smartphone will also support LTE connectivity and dual SIM cards. The less powerful Huawei P20 is expected to feature a 5.8-inch screen with same resolution, 4GB RAM and dual rear cameras comprising of 20MP+12MP setup. It will be backed by a 3400mAh battery. The handset is said to be priced at EUR 649.
As for the Huawei P20 Lite, the smartphone will have the same 5.8-inch with 2240x1080 pixels as the P20 along with the same 4GB RAM capacity. The processor drops down to Kirin 659 and so does the battery – 3000mAh. The rear camera setup also slips down to 16MP+2MP sensors. The device is seen with a price tag of EUR 369. The report says there may be a Huawei P20 Porsche Edition, which will feature 256GB inbuilt storage and is likely to be priced more than P20 Pro.

The first 512GB phone is coming soon, but you might not be able to buy it
Most smartphones ship with a pretty decent amount of built-in storage. 64GB should be more than enough for your immediate needs, especially on Android devices. Most of them come with microSD slots, which can take cards of up to 400GB of fast storage, in case you need even more room for photos, videos and apps.
But if that’s still not enough, then you should know the first phone with 512GB of built-in flash memory is currently in the works. However, you might not be able to purchase it when it launches. That’s because Huawei is the vendor behind it — a company that’s having a hard time selling smartphones in the US.
After AT&T and Verizon ditched plans to carry the Huawei Mate 10 Pro earlier this year, reports this week said that Best Buy would cease its partnership with the Chinese conglomerate as well. Other electronics retailers are still stocking Huawei hardware, although you’d have to pay full price if you want to get your hands on one. It’s unclear at this time what the 512GB Huawei phone is, but it’s likely a flagship device: A listing on Chinese regulator TENAA’s site mentions a NEO-AL00 phone.
The documentation was just recently updated, as PhoneRadar explains, with details on a “memory change.” The phone, which lacks a commercial name for the time being, packs 6GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. PhoneRadar says the phone may be a Mate X concept phone the company is supposedly working on. Huawei already trademarked the “MateX” moniker in Europe under the smartphone category. What’s clear is that the Huawei P20, set to launch next week, will not come in a 512GB version.
That’s because we already know pretty much everything there is to know about the P20 line, and a 512GB model was never on the table. What’s also interesting is that only Samsung seems to manufacture the 512GB UFS modules that Huawei would require. Samsung announced as much last year, prompting speculation that the Galaxy S9 would be available in a version with a whopping 512GB of storage on board. That never happened, however.

Huawei P20 Lite Goes Official With 5.84″ FullHD+ Display & 16MP Dual Cameras
Huawei will be officially unveiling the flagship P20 and P20 Pro smartphones on March 27th in Paris, France. The Huawei P20 Lite sports a glass sandwich design with a metal frame. It runs on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 out of the box. Under the hood, it comes powered by the in-house Kirin 659 octa-core processor clocked at 2.36GHz.
There is 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. In the camera department, the P20 Lite sports a 16MP + 2MP dual camera setup on the rear and a 16MP single camera on the front. Unlike the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro, there is no Leica branding on this device. It is backed by a 3,000 mAh non-removable battery and is mentioned to support fast charging technology via a USB Type-C port. The power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge of the device.
Apart from the rear-facing fingerprint sensor, the device also comes with face unlock for authenticating. The P20 Lite measures 148.6 x 71.2 x 7.4 mm and weighs 145 grams. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, W-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB type-C port. We can expect the Huawei P20 Lite to enter other markets in the coming weeks. Huawei could launch world's first triple-camera smartphone
The upcoming Huawei P20 -- the Chinese manufacturer's new flagship smartphone, set to launch March 27, 2018, in Paris -- could be the world's first handset to come with a triple main camera, according to leaks reported by the Slashleaks website..
Several pictures supposedly showing cases for the upcoming Huawei P20 reveal three cameras at the rear of the device -- a first in the smartphone market. However, no information accompanies the images and it's impossible to know exactly what purpose they may serve. Logically, it seems that one of them could capture colors while another captures black and white, and the third might be a wide-angle camera. Some rumors suggest a 5x optical zoom.
Huawei has been working in partnership with Leica for more than two years on creating camera modules for its smartphones. The Chinese manufacturer was, moreover, one of the first to install a dual camera on its phones (starting with the P9 in 2016), with once camera taking care of detail while the other covers colors.
Otherwise, the new P20 reportedly has an edge-to-edge display, a Home button and a headphones jack. Under the hood, it's expected to run a Kirin 970 processor with 6GB RAM and Android 8.1 (Oreo). A pared-down version with just two cameras could also break cover when Huawei's new smartphone is unveiled, March 27 at the Grand Palais in Paris.
